And you know what’s the most annoying about all of this? Shanahan was better than all of them in the U18s championships IMO, and he showed excellent form in the VFL for Essendon. It was obvious then, and it hasn’t changed since.

Yet we picked all of Faull, Armstrong, and Sims in front of him. We should’ve used at least 1 of our picks for Shanahan.

We really need at least one of them to become stars. I’m not confident, so we should just go with Van Hattum in this year’s draft. I mean, we shouldn’t skip him for our current pool of KPFs if he becomes best in the draft

The WC team was 12 months younger than us on average, and played a lot better.

These results would be excusable if we were playing say Sonsie, Kmac2 and Campbell in the centre, not when it's TT, Prestia and Hopper.

We're the worst team since North many years ago, and we've barely started the rebuild, and it's not like the kids with no experience who haven't played footy for long stretches are going to bail us out of this.

We got a long way to go, at least 2-3 more seasons of talent building. Most of all, our midfield needs more than a renovation… needs a full scale demolition and rebuild. Until we have better options than Prestia, Ross and Hopper we are never going to be anything more than bottom 4. Taranto is about the only player you can salvage and he should be forward line swapping with Lalor.

If Smilie, Hotton, Lalor and Cumming don’t come good as a first team unit we are going to be in a world of hurt. And we don’t have a legit Grade A ruckman to take over when Nank’s creaking body comes to a stop

As for the fwd line, keep Fawcett and Lefau for now. Good to see them getting rewards for their positive attitude and desire to be involved. Faull needs to play VFL until his so called prodigious talent translates into results. I’d dearly love MRJ to make it but he is too inconsistent and lacks polish. I can’t seem him being a long term option.

Lalor and Grlj have been the positives of the season so far. Can only hope we see Hotton Smillie and cumming before long so that it actually feels like we are making progress. OHB also did more than enough to stay in for Ryan.

My burning questions I have for the match committee.

• Why is Short our distributor?
• Why is Short running around the back of Sam Banks for the handball recieve when Banks is perfectly capable of distributing the footy himself, as demonstrated last year?
• Why do we bomb the ball inside 50 95% of the time?
• Why is our F50 always so congested?
• Why do our forwards rarely lead at the ball carrier?
• Are we seriously waiting for Hotton and Smillie to dislodge Prestia and Hopper from the midfield mix? Is there no one else currently fit that could develop in there?
• When are we going to start trusting our developing younger players considering the majority of our issues stem from our experienced players?

I could go on.

What an excellent summary
I have been saying it for last couple of years about Short getting the easy ball and bombing to the opposition WHY
The forwards all group together u can see they miss the experienced Tom J Lynch
The smalls do not see enough in Steely Algar looks better or try the new kids lack of forward pressure
Kane McAullife has to come in and stay in
Something wrong with Trainor looked awful today his possessions turnovers and silly frees
No point commenting on our gum boot four midfielders two just have to go play the kids in the middle

As I said in the game day those selections were forced on Ouzo and his band of merry men , it’s an indictment on them that they selected Ryan who had played all of 10 minutes in his only VFL game as if he was Maz Gawn , the only reason Fawcett got a run was an injury .

This dispels the words of we re going to develop the kids , he is destroying Jonty by praising the kid publicly when every an and his dog can see he needs a spell in the VFL .

When he was asked last week what he thought of fawcwtts first game he said Jonty played well .

This guy will set us back 15 years , if he hasn’t already
