Rob Shirley - broken hand??

Heard that Shirls has a broken hand and is almost certain to miss this weeks Showdown.

Sorry if it's already been mentioned but has anyone got anymore news on this?

Depends on where his hand is broken.
My old man broke his hands on 3 occassions playing footy, and kept on playing in each game, and never missed a game because of it.
Granted today they're more concious of the long term effects of these injuries, but yeah - it's very hard to say how long he'll be out for. May well only be a week or two, or could be 7 or 8, depending on which bone broke, and whether they see the need to put a pin in it or anything. Anyone got an update?

According to KG this morning, its not a bad break and he shouldn't be out for long. He also said Stiffy has a sprained ankle and will miss a week. Apparently he spoke to John Reid.

Personally, I think that either John Reid is feeding him a lot of bull**** or that neither of them have any idea of how serious Stiffy's injury is. It looked a lot worse than a week.

I thought it might be two weeks. But no more. The stress that was put on the ankle didn't look too intense and Stiffy looked reasonably comfortable on the way off.

Trigg on Channel nine said that Shirley is a "tough little fella" and may be able to play with the broken hand

It wouldnt be the first time a player has suited up with a break. He may have to get approval to wear a special guard but Im confident he'll play with the right needle

On the 7 news it said Shirley would only miss one game with a minor fracture and that Johncock would miss 6. Unfortunate but a bit more realistic.

Channel 9 said that Shirley will be given a fitness test later this week to see if he's fit enough to play with his hand in a brace.
