I know your pain. Reminded me of the 2001 Prelim

Utterly disgraceful display of umpiring. Probably cost you a chance at the flag.

as a PIES supporter, (meaning an unbiased opinion)

you were indead very well robbed tonight - big time !
absolutely disgusting umpiring decisions ! - and how OBVIOUS was that 'TRIP' towards the end ..that freakin' umpire was right in front of it ! ...how seriously site impaired is he ...this WILL HIT THE FOOTBALL HEADLINES.
its already doing the rounds on 3aw.

and i've let those WEAGLES know about it as well ....i just could'nt help myself ....they have to be told you know ! :(

you did'nt play your best tonight either - and you still won in my eyes!
your season certainly aint finished yet !

Agree..... What an absolute disgrace.... In the context of the match and what it meant to both sides that is without doubt the worst decision I've ever seen. Not only to pay a free kick but a reversal for a shot on goal.

That shepherding free kick was an absolute stinker (was it Noddy McLaren??). Absolutely umpiring that has influenced the result of a final.

wished i could've hid my other half somewhere ( sydney supporter )

btw...does anyone know how much 'pollyfiller' cost's ?
and is it still difficult to apply for AVO's these days :(

I'm sick of this. When Dem. wonders why the game won't take off in NSW, can he please have a long talk with the hacks in control of the game at present. They are pathetic. Screw them all. They are vicious and unfair.

Most interesting thing about these "robbed" threads is that most neutral fans are calling it that way, not whinging Swans fans.

exactly ! - and how brilliant is that :thumbsu:

co's if one WestCoast fan had seen any Sydney comments, well...you could just see it could'nt ya

get real Westcoast ! ...you must be spewing these are mostly OPEN, HONEST, UNBIASED OPINONS from other team supporters - OUCH!

You guys make it sound like it was this terrible game. I will give you the Stienglien one, it was not a free, but that 'trip' was by accident, the hand slipped and Goodes was already 90% down anyway.
Besides your not the only team to get pushed today, WCE had some bad decisions as well, but you only remember Swans ones because one of them turned out to be dessisive.
Overall yes the whole umpiring thing going on was crap, but WC had as much right to the game as the Swans did.

well ....that was the mentality i was hinting at before (in stingers quote) such modesty ! ...and he backed it up superbly .

it's not so much what WC did ..it's the pathetic Umpiring ! ( comprehendo )
sure it's a win - happy for you :( (see) ......but don't ignore the fact that this game is in trouble in the umpiring area, a win or no win - this game can do without the " im comfortable with umpires now that we won - ignorance".

btw that TRIP ! that was as deliberate as deliberate can be.
but your right - was a fantastic game ....but ruined by those rediculous decisions ( and plenty of them were consistantly one sided and game altering )
if a team can win on fairness and by the true law of the game - then the wrong team got the points tonight in my opinion - by a mile !

but anyway - it's an umpiring thing now thats in the firing zone , not WC themselves.

oh my goodness. the two responses from west coast fans i have read show complete non-intelligence. firstly sitinger your team is ******** and collingwood beat u this year and u have no chance at a premiership. theother one stating stengleins trip occured after goodes was 90% down is irrelevant because the umpires missed it and it was a certain BLATANT free kick. SYDNEY WAS ROBBED AND IM DISGUSTED THAT IT HAPPENED. good luck swans and i hope u win the flag after a great effort tonight.
any west coast supporter who even dares come onto this board and defend themselves or gloat should rack off and shut up.

Which if not paid as it should not of been then the Swans would of been in front.

Doesn't matter. Your hands go anywhere NEAR the legs or feet of another player and then its a free kick to that player if he ends up going to ground. What makes that the more ********weak is less than 10 seconds later the Eagles got a free kick (which was fair I might add) for over the neck. They went forward and got another goal, so you can't look at the Goodes non decision at just the trip itself, but the long term result which was an Eagles goal that killed the game.

Did you count how many times a Sydney player took the ball over the line on purpose? Or dropped it one purpose? The bad decisions went both ways.

pocketrocket#24:
please dont be an idiot.. if your so proud collingwood beet us once then go dream about it, and then wake up and realise that their not even in the finals. The 'trip' incindent would have been a free if:
a) Goodes was actually in a position to gather the ball
b) If Goodes wasnt already practically on the ground
c) If Goodes didnt jump forward to make it look like a trip

he milked it for all it was worth.

Reminders:

Sydney fans - yes, we were screwed. I agree. But please keep it here; don't take it to the West Coast board, just in case you were thinking along those lines.

West Coast fans - this is Sydney's board, and you will either respect the club, its fans and anyone else who posts here... or your right to post on this board will be removed. You're more than welcome to defend your club and state your case - but only if you do it in the manner that you would expect Swans fans to post on the WC board.

No second warnings.

The mistakes Sydney players made tonight were far more critical to the outcome of the game than a few 50/50 decisions by the umpires.

Which is usually the case.

Anyone got the clangers count?

JohnK, you must be as stupid and ignorant not to see the skill errors from both teams.

Goodes, trip? Yes. Buh bye umpire, no grand final for you.
Goodes deliberate? No. What the hell was this decision seriously? Only the worst decision of the year over shadowed it.
Barry shepperd? No. Stenglein took several steps into it OVER his mark. This has got to be the worst umpiring decision, not only of this year, but probably in the last 10, and there is no place in the finals, let alone home & away season for such pathetic, crap, awful game changing decision making. No game should ever be affected by such crap umprising ever.

Can say the same about the Eagles. Took it over the line at times and dropped the ball when tackled, thats football. But your crazy if you think free kicks were missed on mass because of it.

I know as an umpire myself what I saw to night on the above was clear cut, nothing wrong either way except for a few line ball calls which did or didn't get paid.

The bad decisions went both ways.

The bad decisions hurt the Swans more because of where they were paid. We had the Stenglein and the Nick Davis non goal, thanks to a free kick paid to Glass which was soft at best and you had bad calls go against you in the Swans defence.

oopps ....SORRY CHARLIE G

i'd already done this ....and im not from either club ! ...i done this only to comment on the bad umpiring decisions on the day and was not bagging any team - just merely mentioning how wrong things were.
( bet a WC had a la la about about it all did they  )

not sure where these Delete post options are CharlieG - but i will expect some to go missing if you think fit to do so .

Fisrt off, great game by the Swans. It is a real shame when such a tight competition is sullied by poor umpiring decisions. But there were a couple of significant errors which benifited the Swans.

1. In the first quarter when Hall dragged down Glass, then ran on to take the mark and got a goal. It should have been a free to Glass, so you got one there thanks to the umpires. And in case you think I am biast, the commentators on fox footy said the same.

2. First quarter again when we scored a goal, but the ball was brought back for a free to Matera, who missed. Should have played advantage in that case. We were robbed of that goal.

3. Latter on in the game (3rd qtr I think) when the umpire pointed the wrong way for an Eagles free, and by the time it was corrected, most players had run the down field.

I have a lot of respect for the Swans and hope you make it to the finals to play us again.

Robbed, you've got to be kidding, Sydney threw that game away in the last quarter. Roberts Thompson will be having nightmares about that kick to stenglien for the rest of his life if the Swans don't make the granny and as for leo Barry, what an imbeccile, he knew exactly what he was doing and the ump wasn't sucked in by it. Barry = pure idiocy.

I wanted the Swans to win that match and they should have. They only have themselves to blame through poor kicking, turnovers and free kicks. unbelievable.
