Bill Brownless on the Sunday Footy Show suggested that Robbo wouldn't be at Melbourne next year...

Anyone else heard these rumblings? Is Billy making up rubbish? Can you afford to lose him? What would you want for him?

I can't imagine him playing anywhere else or us without him - he's what we're all about. Sometimes great, often frustrating.

Robbo wouldn't wanna leave, and the club wouldn't wanna get rid of him.

I'd say it is an uninformed comment by Brownless.

A lot of people put Robbo in the "talented, but inconsistant" bracket that the likes of Green, White, Yze, Bruce, Johnstone, etc... are in. While you can argue that he is inconsistant, one thing you can't dispute is that he gives his all for the club and is a very important part of our forward line.

Robbo would never leave the club, you can tell that he just loves the dees by the way he speaks and would neva leave the club esp after a tough year this year

I'd like to know what all this is based on. Surely the new coach would make these kind of decisions and unless Robbo is soo irate of Daniher not being re-hired then I can't see that anything like that would be discussed until seasons end. Besides, behind Neitz, the guy is the heart and sould of the club.

Robbo's a good player, no question, but I can't for the life of me understand why we'd be trading for more forwards?

If the report was about a Jones, Sylvia, Bate, McLean, Johnstone or even a Jamar or Johnson I could understand it, but Robbo?

Robbo is just a little frustrated at the moment because he hasn't signed a new contract with us yet. This is where all these rumours are stemming from. He wants to continue on with us, but because the club has been somewhat preoccupied recently with the little matter of our new coach, player contracts have been put on hold until that is finalised.

I have no doubts he will be with us next year.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Robertson expressed his frustration the club is yet to agree on a new contract.

"Lots of stuff going on at Melbourne at the moment obviously and I can understand that it's probably been put on the back-burner a bit," Robertson said.

Robertson said he had been told he was a required player, but he and Melbourne were still "just working through the nitty-gritty".

"I'd like to have been signed up, really would have liked to have been signed up by now but I'm not," Robertson said.

"Hopefully it gets done soon."

Thoroughly agree. We'd be winning premierships if we had a team made of up of 22 Robbos, Neitas and McDonalds, throw in a couple of Brocks and Jones and a Godfrey too

LOL I can see it now every contest there is a Robbo flying over the pack, makes for entertaining footy.

He's 28 years old, best is behind him. What would u get for him? 2nd round pick?

Robbo still has some top football left in him he didnt look to happy on the news down here clubs like Collingwood and the Bulldogs have all ready rang his manager.

I just heard he wants to sign for 3 years but for some unknown and completely stupid idea they have only offered him 2!!!!!!!!!!!

GIVE THE MAN WHAT HE WANTS!!!!!!!!!!

I can understand why the club is offering him a two-year deal, but I hope he stays at Melbourne. I couldn't picture him anywhere else - that would be awful to see.

Bizzell and Yze held the club to ransom for 3 year contracts and look where that has got us. Bizzell has played 1.5 years out of the 3 and many people are very frustrated with Yze's performances this year, and he still has a year to go.

Robbo may well be the heart and soul of the club but he has been hampered by knee injuries and it would be foolish of the MFC to give him more than two years.

I suspect he thinks he will be on thin ice with a new coach and that is why he is so keen for a new contract.
