Re: Robert Walls`

robert walls when coaching against geelong in the 90's send one of his players out to king hit ken hinkley, hinkley was out for 6 weeks.. walls is a old grump and needs to go

Re: Robert Walls`

Yeah well, things can change. Oh and by the way, isn' t Harley due back shortly?

No. Apparently when viewed out of training times doing cone work, he looked quite proppy and not all that happy with his knee.

With that in mind you'd say another 3-4 weeks away.

Re: Robert Walls`

"Tom (Harley) was he (Gary Ablett) urged by the players to go to another level with his fitness a couple of years ago?"

Original question.

Also why does he clear his throat every time before he says something?

What got me was when Walls said 'Geelong desperately need Harley back in the line-up'. I was upset enough to think about starting my first thread just about him..but you all beat me by a long way. Walls says this when we have won 4 games in a row (well technically when he said it we had won 3 and a half games)...sure, having Tommy back would help improve the side but desperate?

Re: Robert (flogger) Walls

Tonight on one week at a time him and Quarters were sort of comparing Wallace coaching the Tigers and him coaching Brisbane and he managed to finish it with 'they are still the best team i have ever seen run out onto the park'. I'd like to think he was talking about the Geelong team who ****ed up Brisbane but unfortunately he was smugly referring to the Brisbane team he didn't coach.

As much as we are re-hashing the same shit I don't care, we are lacking people to have a crack at within our club, gotta have a crack at someone till next weekend.

I reckon he asks every Geelong person he interviews that question. Is he expecting a difference answer if he keeps asking it ?

because his throat is full of shit ;)

...thats a bit narrow minded JubJub...Its noy just his throat that is full of shit he is totally full of shit and struggles to keep it all from flowing out at once.

Re: Robert (flogger) Walls

I think we have to accept that a period of sustained excellence like Geelong's gives commentators the shits. Where's the drama where you have a team that has won 92% of it's last 50 games (96% if we win on Sunday as the last Roos loss in Rd 5 2007 drops off the list)? They are paid to pump things up and saying how "great" we are will become boring for them and the audience, even if we can't get enough of it!
In fairness to Walls I have heard him say many times how much he admires Geelong. He is pretty hard on Taylor though.

They aren't paid to pump things up - they are paid to commentate on the game, in an objective and UNBIASED manner. The Channel 7 team do this very well, and it's no coincidence they are clearly the best team around. Channel 10 and Foxtel vary between vaguely acceptable to appalling depending on who you get.

Take Walls bagging Taylor. That's fine, if it's his opinion. But he should do his research. If Taylor is so poor one-on-one, how come he thrashed Travis Cloke last week (a fact that was completely overlooked by the football media)? Walls follows Football Journalism 101 - repeat a theory of yours endlessly until you speak of it as if it's a fact. The "competition" between Johnson and Mooney (which I've never heard anyone associated with Geelong admit to) is a classic case in point.

Even Luke Darcy got in on the act, in the last quarter he stated that Brad Ottens would be our best 2nd tall forward option. Hasn't he been watching the last 2 and a bit seasons? 46 out of 49, since we started playing Ottens as a ruckman. Coincidence? I think not.

I have to admit I immediately thought of you when he said that.

Maybe Luke Darcy should stick to netball, eh?

http://www.adamsmanagement.com.au/n...netball-commentary-team-on-network-10_110.php

...TEN's coverage, headed by former Australian captain Liz Ellis and Network Ten personality Luke Darcy begins on September 17 with the New World International Netball Series in New Zealand followed by the Holden Netball Test Series featuring Australia, New Zealand and England from October 4-November 2 in four Australian cities....

Re: Robert (flogger) Walls

Just watching the last bit of the game, listening to Walls. Milburn is suffering, we can write off Hawkins, our backline is full of holes blah blah blah.

Also hasn't Darcy seen Otto have a set shot at goal in recent years ? Shannon Byrnes or Matthew Scarlett would be a more reliable shots these days.
