Thank you for your insightful pithy articles in the Age, the observations of a twenty something have truly enhanced my mundane fortysomething life.

May I offer a small suggestion,from one who was never talented enough to be given the honour of representing my beloved Footscray.

Think long and hard of the game that has given you the opportunity to live your self indulgent existance., and treat you club and fans with the respect it deserves.

Care to elaborate as to how you think Robert Murphy doesn't treat the club and fans with the respect it deserves?
Was not a great day for many players today including Bob.. but hardly deserving of being singled out for scorn on the back of a poor performance. He always carries himself with class, and exudes passion for this club, and I just can't see how he could in, anyones evaluations come under scrutiny for his effort and/or respect for the club and fans.....

Are you one those people don't understand the tongue in cheek adjectives Murphy uses in his writing. I warned people about this, but they all assured me nobody was stupid enough to take it to literally. Of course you will say 'no i understand it... blah blah blah'. But clearly you didn't, as by starting this thread you have already admitted to it. Instead of taking cheap shots at Murphy why don't you just say what you intended to say about him as a player. He's work with the Age has been very enjoyable, add to that a fantastic marketing tool for the club. He deserves a slap on the back, not a slap in the face.

pal - you are a dead set knob of the highest order.
 
Bob's column is thoughtful and highly intelligent, just like his football.

As many coaches have said, I don't want players who are fearless because fearless players are stupid and I don't want to work with stupid players. I imagine Bob would be a dream for coaches to work with.
 
Don't read them, they are irrelevant. Bigger issue is his poor form, he has plenty of mates there.
Plenty of players write articles i.e Hall,Bucks,Archer to name a few.No evidence to suggest that media work affects form.
 
I think the only danger in players writing articles is the criticism that ensues if their form drops away, for some reason people think that it affects the way they play. I think in this case it's a cheap shot, not unlike criticism of certain players wearing suits.
 
peter jackson ads are far worse. sure - put them in a suit- but don't let them speak. shhsssh. How bad has it been at 3/4 time this year when we're down by lots. then on come the peter jackson boys telling us how important it is to have a good game day suit.....bahahaha....how about a good game day gameplan
