Walls is a dropkick, even when Essendon were going well we were just average to him, he got a couple of towelings from Essendon when he was trying to play football @ Cartank and has never stopped hating us for it :mad: :thumbsdown: :cool: :thumbsu: :) :D

Wallsy is a 6/10 commentator (bit dour for my liking but still watchable) - agree though that there is a bit too much Carlton (does that mean anti-Essendon?) bias on Channel 10. Walls has certainly bagged Carlton in the past and he did make some positive statements about Essendon - he doesn't hate Essendon, it's just that he doesn't really like them that much.

On the contentious subject of Anzac Day, no two clubs should own the occassion. With any invention the patent eventually expires and the invention enters the public domain; Essendon and Collingwood should be allowed to extract some more benefit from this big occassion, but a benevolently socialist AFL cannot allow this one-sided domination of our defacto national day for too much longer; Andrew, show us your balls and make a call on this one! GF teams from previous year should have the main focus on Anzac Day with the current Anzac ceremonies all over the country at other games.
 
Aren't Carlton and Richmond trying to plan something for good Friday? Go take that and leave our Anzac Day clash to us, the ones who made it the second-biggeat game of the year.
 
Anzac day is actually about the Anzacs, but the main game should remain CollingwoodEssendon, i'm pretty sure i heard Wallsy say that some people have suggested carlton v collingwood but that he didn't agree with that. That's what i heard anyway. The crowd noise level at the time kinda drowned him out.

I think I posted this before but I believe Walls' hatred of Essendon dates back to an incident between him and Sheedy... and well Sheedy was Essendon for 27 years. But, Walls can't be too critical...

I've been supporting the bombers for over 25 years and yesterday was completely embarrassing.

There was nothing good to be taken from that game. Nothing at all.

Did anyone hear Walls commentating the Carlton game yesterday? When the Blues got pinged for the Waite punching the ball into the crowd, Walls almost started crying! Abused Chamerblain and then said he was leaving. Haha.

He's supposed to be there for "special comments". He is Captain Obvious no doubt, just repeats what happened on screen verbally with no insight at all. He obviously gets by on credentials somehow. (Dermie and G Healy are the best, Watson and Schwarz the other bad ones)

After being coached in local footy the last few years by a former VFL legend, I think some old-school guys cannot see that the game is different now ( for the better or worse.... ) and will never change their outdated views. He has been bypassed, and gives absolutely nothing to the broadcast. By the way, I think Malcolm Blight may take drugs some weeks before watching games, did anyone hear him ranting on about "go through the middle" last night (WB vs WC)?

Also, a couple of weeks ago I almost blew a gasket when Walls said the SAME thing FOUR times during one of our games " I hear from a very good friend of mine who is a keen Essendon man, who goes to training and watches all the games, that Matthew Lloyd has lost a step and his kicking is not what it used to be" . Fine, maybe a valid opinion that could have been his own that he didn't have the balls to own up for fear of looking stupid if Lloyd kicks 5 or 6 that day. He kept repeating it though as if noone had heard him say it before.

How he keeps his job is beyond me. He's a biased hack. :mad:
 
I think it's fair to say the whole Channel 10 commentary team is a joke. Whoever thought of bringing Robert Walls and Tim Bland (as Sam Newman puts it) together is a complete douchebag, some of the most moronic statements I have ever heard can be attributed to those two. Furthermore, the stupidity and bias of Robert Walls cannot be truly summed up in a single sentence. Simply, Walls was a mediocre, soft footballer who believes himself to be a champion, and consequently criticizes a number of players (under biased opinion) who are considerably better than what he ever was. His irredeemable smugness reflects through his terrible commentary, whether it be through TV or his articles in The Age, and with it he detracts from the game itself. ROBERT WALLS SHOULD BE SACKED.

In summation, I actually feel stupider for having to listen to him.
 
Blight's not bad IMHO
At least he has half a brain, sometimes he over-thinks it though
Can't please everyone though, I reckon every commentator/comments person/boundary rider/sound man's 2nd assistant has a thread about them on the main board bagging them out
 
For years Walls has been anti essendon.
I don't like him commentating essendon games and don't understand why he still is allowed to.
This kind of talk has been going on since he started commentating.
