Now here is where you need your calculator. Lets say that an offence carries *600 points which equals 6 weeks. Holland has 80 carry over points and a 25% increase for a bad record so he now has 830 points to Buchanan's 600.

Holland is offered 6 weeks with an early guilty plea giving him 25% reduction down to 622.25 points. Then he challenges the decision, this losing his deduction and back up to 830 points. He loses at the tribunal and ends up with 8 weeks and 30 carry over points. Buchanan meanwhile, gets offered 3 weeks with a 25% deduction for clean record and 25% for guilty plea. He pleads guilty, gets 3 weeks (300 points) and has nothing to carry over.

seeing as you chose to ignore my example which provided a simple explanation using an imaginary scenario, i'll address your real example

Despite all the "math" being splattered all over this thread I think the one week suspension is clearly inadequate even if the player was a friggin Catholic Nun and hand feeds leppers in the backstreets of Fremantle.

The fact that you can justify one player getting 6 weeks and another getting 1 week for very similar incidents with the same maths shows just how ludicrous the current system is.

This week the tribunal should offer a 50% off on any high contact on any Swans player.
