yeh i think he will play,i cant wait to see him back, just throw him in the goalsquare and he could beat nearly every defender one out .:thumbsu:

Also included in the travelling party to Brisbane to replace the injured Ben Johnson and the suspended Nick Maxwell and Heath Shaw, were Anthony Corrie, Tyson Goldsack, Jaxson Barham and Alan Toovey.

Hmm. Interesting.

No Steele tho :(

Quick!

Can someone get to Tullamarine before the flight leaves to nobble Alan Toovey so he doesn't play????

please please dont play toovey!id like 2 see barham get a game played alrite in the vfl last wk,corrie will prob play as well against old side

Surprised that Cook was not on the flight. Maybe they want to get another game into him this week.

I'd say Barham will debut in the negating midfielder role that Johnson was playing, Toovey or Goldsack to replace Maxwell and Rocca in for Heater with Tarks or Clarke going back to the back flank.

i hope barham gets a go!
Also hope Rocca comes back in!!!!! :-D
Steele needs to play man! That's bullcrap that he wasn't on the flight!

Aren't we missing a player????

Don't we need 25 players, 22 and 3 emergencies???? Who's missing?

Strange that we only sent 24, didnt even send the full quota.

Guess selection isnt too hard to figure out now.

In: Rocca, Goldsack/Toovey, Barham, Corrie
Out: Maxwell, Johnson, Shaw, Dick

Although strange that they would take Brad Dick up there if they were going to drop him.

looks like mccarthy didn't pull up from his soreness, otherwise he'd surely be included. people talk about sidebottom, but a fit mccarthy must play in front of him, and any of our fringe midfielders for that matter.

  • ANTHONY Rocca will play his first AFL match of the year for Collingwood against Brisbane on Friday night.
Magpies midfielder Shane O'Bree - speaking at Melbourne Airport moments ago before the team flew to Brisbane - confirmed the big forward would come into the team.
"He will definitely play. He has done the hard yards since late last year when he hurt himself," O'Bree said.
"His rehab work has been sensational to get himself to where he is now. It's the best I've seen him move on the training track so hopefully on game day he puts it in and gets through unscathed."
O'Bree, who will play his 200th game on Friday against his former club, said the Pies young forwards would benefit from Rocca's presence in the side.
The Magpies have three forced omissions from the side that lost to Geelong last Thursday - Nick Maxwell and Heath Shaw due to suspendion and Ben Johnson with a broken leg - meaning which leaves two other spots up for grabs on top of Rocca's return.
Second-year midfielder Jaxson Barham is in line for one of the places.
"We've got three definite outs and Anthony is the only one in," O'Bree said.
"Jackson is probably in the mix. He has had a good pre-season. His form in practice matches has been sensational so if he gets a chance he'll be ready to go."

Malthouse said they will play players who have had good form in the VFL. Wow!!! Toovey!!! are you serious? He contradicts himself so much. It's like Kurt Cobain doing a cover of the song 'Stayin Alive'

This is what Inside Football said about these players on the weekend.

Toovey : Steady effort but nothing outstanding

Corrie : won plenty of the ball but made a few big errors

Barham : Butchered the footy when he got it

Goldsack : Poor game after a huge first term.

Sidebottom : used the ball well as we have come to expect

pay that.

Playing Corrie against a physical Lions team who deemed him too soft to keep on the list is just asking for trouble.

I think Toovey's deserved another shot (based on NAB cup form), but the inclusions of Goldsack and Barham are baffling.

"but if you’re 1-3 at this stage of the year it’s not going to be a drama at all.”

They are talking as if he have no chance of winning.
I disagree,, 1-3 is not a great effort when we should have at least beaten Adelaide. We need to beat Brisbane, so far we have beat last years wooden spooners. Lost to Geelong and Adelaide. If we lose to Brisbane then its basically showing us that we can't beat quality teams in the top 8, which in turn will get us nowhere.

This is getting beyond the joke, we need a tagger to take out Black or Power. Cook gets 32 touches in the vfl and can't get a call up, Sidebottom 27, McCarthy 17 in a half, Macaffer and Stanley both really solid games but get nothing.. Yet Toovey gets 9 touches at VFL level. He offers us nothing at VFL so what could he possibly show at AFL. We already know how Toovey plays, lets try other young guns and see how they cope at AFL. It's the only way we will ever know how good they will become. If they do worse than Toovey then im all for him getting a game, however i highly doubt that they will! In saying this he has been more solid this year than last but i still feel that there are about 7 other players that have more to offer than Tooves...

I really hope Barham gets a game. Love his style of play. Was an absolute nut in the Nab cup. Loves contact, very tackle happy, brilliant pace.
We are due for another Debut...

Rapt that Rocca is back, Really think he can add a heap to our game on Friday. Especially with Brisbane having both Bradshaw and Brown, we are going to need someone to hurt them going the other way.

I saw Corrie in the VFL and I was less than impressed. Average disposal, average decision making and has the uncanny knack of running himself into trouble where there seemingly isn't any trouble to run into. I would definitely play Cook, Wellingham or Stanley ( who I've been fairly critical of) ahead of him. McCarthy must be injured, otherwise he'd be in. It seems they're saving Steele for ANZAC day.

Hmm. Interesting.

No Steele tho :(

Thinking there holding him back and want to develop him a bit more for giving him a Game.

I am more Concerned that Corrie is heading to the Lions, He was captain Clanger in the VFL last saturday so I can't see why we take another player who can't kick

must be the old play against ur old side and have a blinder theory :)

if only this were reality

Ins for me are rocca, goldsack and toovey, but i'd prefer barham over toovey.
I wonder how long we'll go with just josh in the ruck...
