Was just a good game by the big guy but not really influencing it as much as he should be.

I don't know why MM doesn't play Rocca the way he is playing Cloke. Rocca is such a huge mark and kick and he should be roaming just outside the 50 line.

The way he delivers the ball to a leading player is perfect and it would give Didak more room to lead out of the goal square.

Rocca is having an interesting season. He isn't having much impact, but at least even when he's mistiming his marks and leads he's contributing by putting on defensive pressure and more importantly forcing the ball to our advantage by making a contest. This time last year Rocca was going sensationally then he went crap, at least now his quiet games are still solid games.

Watch the game again see how many leads, how many contests, how many players he draws when he is inside 50. At least 5 goals tonight came from A Rocca contesting inside 50, and you want him outside 50.

I dont mean to offend you but that is as stupid idea. Rocca was excellent tonight I remember one goal he drew 3 Pendles stayed down and gave to swan goal, I also a mark he maybe could of took instead tap to Didak set up a goal.

Great game tonight Pebbles.

Also how many times did he mark out side 50 .. at least 4-5 times which is good as he was playing FF if he was at CHF he would be leading even further away from the goals and getting those marks at wing and HB then who do you kick to?????

Did some very nice things, and I just feel for him missing the opportunities, especially when the media is all over it, and he puts in his worst performance of the season in reference to conversion, instead of letting the monkey off his back at the right time.

Plenty of one percenters though.

Rocca was unreal tonight, beside 2 other great games by Lockyer and Cloke he was the best. If you think he should move out to CHF the you would make a terrible coach. MM is a smart man and knows how important he is.

Right now close to AA but because he is playing FF they only look at goals man he is playing good footy, just needs to get the kicking down and he is set.

I wasn't criticising the guy or the game he had. I suggested that by playing up the ground more he would be of more value to us.

The way he led up the ground in the last qtr and passed to a leading Didak was perfect. He should be doing more of that. He's one of the best contested marks in the league and so far this season he hasn't exerted his influence on games like he should.

Nup. Doesn't have the Stamina, and will turn games from full forward.

But mate if you push him up the ground all day you have nothing to kick to. Rocca dominated at FF tonight and was close to BOG and you now want to move him up the ground. Right now you have a running fast strong CHF in Cloke and Rocca in the goal square perfect for each other.

Rocca is a very smart footy player he leads up when the space is there, pushes back when needed, and creates space for guys like Cloke, Didak and the like to run into. He is basically James Clement of the forward line.

You don't wanna move him, he has been excellent all year in that spot. As I said you push him further up the ground, Rocca does no damage marking at Wing/ HB. He need to be no further than 70 away from goal at all times and for that to happen he need to stay at FF.

If you want him running all day then your going to get 2 quarters of footy out of him. Not his game

With you. He is taking no 1 defenders every week and toweling them as far as contested marks etc. Even if he only kicks 2, oppo can't afford to take best defender off him, and thus Cloke and co have a field day. Malthouse has finally got that forward line resembling something that can work, week in week out. Wait until Buckley is back, it will be an embarassment of riches down there.

With Rocca's fitness levels, he should NEVER leave the forward 50 (ok, 60!) because he is a big unit, who can take contested marks, but when hes in a pack, if he dont mark it, no one does! Travis Cloke has grown beautifully into the modern day CHF, roaming far and wide to get that ball into Rocca's direction. Dick, Davis and Didak should benefit greatly this year from Rocca being entrenched inside 50, in form or out

He was close to BOG and where did he have influence tonight??? 5-6 goals roved of him tonight. If you want him to lead all day then you must be watching a different Rocca to me. Sure he kicks some goals outside 50 but how many???? of his 14 or 15 goals came from outside 50 and how many has he kicked or provided the contest for inside 50.

As for him tonight if you don't think he was close to BOG im talking to an idiot as he was unreal tonight had his hand in pretty much every goal.

Spot on with Davis, he is a forward, forward, forward. He only ever looks great down there, and will only ever be a workman like midfielder, if that, leave where he belongs and is delivering consistently.

I can handle Davis playing from Centre forward, because of his ability to cleanly collect the ball, and scoot away. In semi-contested, pack situations, the way he reads the ball could be utilised beautifully a kick from goal. But as a crumbing forward, he is at his best

Anywhere Leon is within 60 of goal is fine with me, centre forward not a problem, depending on match ups, oppo etc, but for some reason his ball radar gets jammed upfield. Why take sand to the desert when the midfield has Thomas and Pendlebury to learn the craft and the old schoolers are doing such a decent job at the moment? Leon is finally doing what he is good at regularly, and that is just fine by me.

This is where you have been misunderstood

Cloke very rarely moves as far as centre wing. First few games he seemed to play behind Rocca and as his confidence has grown he has started to lead further out.

I'd like to see how Rocca plays if he focussed on staying in the 40-70 metre arc from goal. Firstly, his kicking is more accurate from that distance and it would allow Didak more room to lead closer to goal.

i think he has had a good year in terms of overall production he just hasn't been able to finish which has been disappointing. He has still contributed a fair bit to the team though

What I noticed is he missing shots because he is forced to lead out wide, which consequently makes it hard for him to goal on tight angles. Either teams are flooding or where not giving him enough space to lead down the corridor.
