I know you all say his important for your structure etc. but from an outsiders P.O.V he has let down your side fair to often. Realistically Collingwood cant win a flag this year or next. Would it be better for the long term if you took the gamble got rid of Rocca & got games in to rusling/Reid/Brown.I know its a risk & i'm not sure what you would think about it but it might have the same positive effect on these fella's as tarrant leaving had on Cloke, just an observation.

got games in to rusling/Reid/Brown

pfft never mind these duds, its all about Dawes now ;)

I dunno about Rocca, his first half was good tonight, second half was poor, but not totally his fault.

I still think he does a job for us, and he should continue to get picked, at least for next season.
Some of the younger kpp's will overtake him soon, and he will miss out. But thats a good thing, having younger players force older players out can only be a positive.

i think over time he really hasn't stood up enough to be a side hoping to win a premierships key forward. I dont know the exact stats but i think his only kicked 50 in a season once which over time probably isn't enough. I know goals ain't everything but other then his great kicking & being an ansolute unit i dont really see much else he brings to a side other then abit of presence, i just think for the pies to eventually become the side to challenge they need someone better or maybe a combanation of better players for then to achieve that which why i think it would be a good oppurtunity to bring in the likes of rusling/reid/brown/dawes & any other young talent you may have.

You obviously didn't see his great 2003 season and great 2002 finals series. He was a gun CHF, worked hard and covered a lot of ground (even if he did look puffed out a lot). He won alot of games off his own boot and probably even came close to doing it in the 2002 grand final. He still wins games off his own boot (or at least hands).

Rocca's main problem is that he is brain dead.

If he had a better brain he would be a much better player.

Fair enough each to there own opinion he plays for your side so you know better then me but atleast i'm not getting called ******** or ****wit for writing a post like this which i have been before, its good then you can have an opinion & someone disagree telling you why rather then that your a ****wit.

It really depends how you go against about it. You've been very diplomatic in how you have criticised him rather than just saying "he's not that good, another Collingwood overrated hack, get rid of him" type of post that belongs to bay 13, I just deleted a thread on rocca just like that in fact. And your thread is the way opposition supporters should go about it.

I think he was okay tonight. The ball was kicked on his head a lot, and he had to compete with 2-3 opponents nearly all game. He does create a contest, I mean how often do you see him outmarked? If we could get Leon or Dale consistently crumbing to those contests we'd be laughing. Unfortunately that happens all too rarely.

Yea exactly but some ppl are still very defensive when it comes to there own players weather it be true or not true, but its good these boards are for debate so if ppl do it in a good way & not a childish way its all good, & the great thing about footy is that if you ask 100 different ppl on an issue your going to get 100 different answers.

This is the collingwood board stupid, if we want to be defensive about our own players we will.

If Bucks thinks he's our most important player who am I to say otherwise.

What we need to do is keep the Neon's, Didak's, Medhurst's etc at his toes because he always makes a contest and even if he doesn't take a contested mark (and doesn't he lead the league in those??) he'll always bring it to ground!

Good work Rock!

Your an idiot, its not like he is being disrespectful or anything, he is allowed to have an opinion, and as long as he puts it across in a decent manner then whats wrong with that?

Nothing wrong with this thread, or the OP. Just you.

I dont like him or you for that matter,

I honestly couldn't care what you think mate & i'm guessing neither would ron we may support different teams but i think we agree that your being abit of a tool mate, your free to say what you like but come on.

That is why Rusling got a goal, his oppo was all over 'double teaming' Rocca and Rus just stood there inside 50 and took an uncontested mark. A small example of the panic he causes on a weekly basis.

What do you want from him? He's better than you give him credit for. He's never been a high possession getter, his best footy is behind him and he gets double-teamed every week. His role is different to previous years gone by. He plays out of the goalsquare and he doesn't move very far up the ground, but he contributes in other ways like providing a contest for himself and his teammates.

To me he just doesn't seem to be able to find the form he had 4 years ago. I think it's time to part ways. I also agree that a premiership won't happen in the next two years, therefore it's something that has to be donw now rather then later.

Rocca was a mean presence in the first half, although I wished he went on with it, there has to be some help on the ground level!

I've noticed Rocca is getting a lot of crumbs too, did he change roles with Medhurst?
