Was watching a bit of 'Rocky 3' on Channel 7 last night (the Mr. T one) and it was pretty predictable and boring stuff.
However, the bit that stood out for me was the fight between Mr. T and Stallone - which Mr. T wins. I haven't seen any of the Rocky series for years but it struck me how laughably unrealisitic the fight itself was.
It consisted of was Stallone and or Mr. T rushing at each other and launching haymakers at each other - that was it. There was no holding, no jabbing and hardly any sparring. And most ridiculous of all, neither boxer seemed unduly affected when one of these haymakers connected. As anyone who knows anything about boxing knows, a full blooded swing that connects means the end of the fight is usually 10 seconds away.
Yeah I know, it's Hollywood and Stallone but to think that people like Lleyton Hewitt use these films as inspiration before they play a match. Bizzare.
