Will he play mainly in the midfield this year ? :)
Or will he be parked in the 50 as a permanent forward from time to time as Ayresy used to do ? :(
I still believe he has the tank to play on the ball for a full game, but I'm just curious to know if the hierarchy might try to preserve him by playing him up forward more often with a view to career longevity ?

Maybe down the track and until some more impressive kids come through. As AW said he is all class. He can retire to the forward lines in 2007

I think he will play mainly in the middle with the occasional rest in the forward line. Hopefully Scott Thompson will be able to give Neil Graig another option that allows Roo to go forward with out leaving us short of muscle in the middle. Roo can be a pretty damaging forward but without the likes of Thompson picking up the slack, we just loose to much in the guts when he goes forward.

for me I think and hope that Roo will only need to play in the middle at the start of games and when we are under the pump - other than that I think a role in the forward line - I think his strength maybe needed this year

this would also help him go further than the next couple of years - considering the style of player he is

he looks like he has aged a lot over the pre-season, i dont think he'll be around as long as everyone reckons, definitely not 5 yrs. Anyway the crows have already said that macca, roo and Co will spend less time in the middle, but how much less, when its crunch time, we'll have to wait and see. Cant see NC hesitating to put them in there is the game is in the balance.

I would say this year 85% midfield.......15% resting up forward.

those proportions will even up over the next few years.

I think his last couple of years could be as a permanent forward , eg D Jarman.

Agreed Mad One. I reckon Roo will boot 50 goals in a season before he is done. Strong as an ox, leads well, kicks truely.

Indeed. The club needs to get more rotation through the middle.

By the way RS, Ayres mainly rotating him off the bench, it was only a couple of tight games he went up forward to try and get us back into the game as none of the forwards had been doing it.

He will play mainly in the midfield and I don't think NC would have him in there as often as he has been in the last couple of years. Not if he can help it anyway. NC wants to give more people run in the middle and that also means less time in the guts fro McLeod, Roo, Goodwin and Edwards.

I think he will play in the midfield a lot more than he does as a forward but he will not spend as much time in there as he has in the last couple of years.

And that would really cheese me off - having your best player off the field -when he could be resting up forward and kicking goals at the same time is the way to go!

He should always start in the midfield, we need his strength there. IMO he should be treated like James Hird and move himself to the forward line if he needs a rest. He needs to be on the field as much as possible and there needs to be less of him going to the bench. He is a great leader so should be out there to lead.
