matt pridis is an interesting one.

alot of eagles supporters have been eyeing him off for our rookie list. finds alot of the footy, only small but efficient. will be a player at AFL, not sure how damaging. suprised the eagles/dockers havent invited him.

There is some good talented young guys there. Should be interesting.

I still have a feeling about Juniper. I know some people have issued warnings about him, but as a rookie he could be worth a punt.

At this stage though it would have to be between Grundy, Pearce, Hinge, Griffen and Fisher.

Also wouldnt mind Ware getting a crack though, as a Centrals supporter.

No thanks. You can have all the talent in the world but of your head isn't screwed around the right way then it means sweet ******** all.

He is a loose cannon. Unless he changes his attitude he is not welcome at the crows.

How does the rookie process work? Is it a draft , or can we select any of the 3 mentioned above (I believe Andrews is 1 of our 4 rookies already)? Otherwise its quite likely some of the names - Pearce and Grundy for example - maybe snapped up by other clubs if they are likely types.

It is mouth-watering though to think of having Pearce/Grundy/Juniper on the rookie list to really work on their development over the next couple of years.

I think Stewarts appointment will possibly really help us in this area going forward - that is the identification of 'decent bet' rookies and then developing them and seeing how then come on. The fact rookies can be upgraded automatically to the senior list at yrs end (or during the season with long term injuries) means its a HUGE bonus for the clubs to get this as accurate as possible.

Yeh, I know, Ive heard it too. Your right he needs to straighten himself up before we should consider him even as a rookie. Having said that I'm told he isnt your average player, he has the talent to be anything. Sounds like a job for Stewie. If he cant fix him, no-one can. Good to see theyre letting him come along and see what its all about anyway, he might be inspired to change and it might be the turning point for the lad.

Surely we wont entertain the idea of taking Griffin with Maric, Messen and Andrews secured ?

If I were to choose, I'd go with Pearce, Grundy and Ware. All are different kind of players but all could turn out to be absolute guns.

Com someone comment on Grundy's mobility and athleticism ? I know he is a good sized unit for an 18 year old, but perhaps there is question marks over his agility, hence the reason he was overlooked in the ND ?

I think its a draft, where you take your turn selecting but Stiffy or someone would know more than me on this, no doubt. If so, its pretty unlikely we will get the three we want. I'd say with the depth of talent in these guys, there will be other clubs looking over our shoulder.

Stiffy, if he is a 'loose cannon' like you say, then it concerns me as to why the Crows have even invited him. You'd think the AFC would be aware of his 'nature'.

Anyhow, it looks like a decent list of youngsters. It's a big couple of weeks for those kids.

Yeh, Ive heard Grundy and Kirkby both tested poorly at the draft camp for agility. Seems to be the consensus on why they were overlooked.

Same as National Draft. Each round starts with Richmond, finishes with Port. We'll have picks 5,21,37 to fill our 3 rookie spots.

We may not get the 3 we want, but chances are we'd get 3 of the first half-dozen or so we want.

Also, the rookie draft happens after the PSD doesnt it? If so, we could have a few options gone before the rookie draft.

Disappointed that Nick Batchelor wasn't invited.

Of that lot the 3 I would like Rookie Listed are Grundy, Pearce and Fisher. I wouldn't mind giving DeVries a spot as he can play KP

Gawd, I'm agreeing with you far too much lately Stiffy. :p

We need another coaching appointment so we can disagree. :D

Same 3 for me - Grundy, Pearce and Fisher.

Not disagreeing with you but looked at his profile and jeez hes a skinny fellow. Of course Ive never seen him play, so I cant pass judgement, he could be the next Shammer.

Nick Batchelor
Details:
Club: Norwood
DOB: 11 September 1986 Hgt: 182cm Wgt: 68kg
Position: Wing
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
South Australia 2004
State Screening Camp 2004

Strengths: Nick is a lightly built wingman with good speed and a penchant for carrying the footy. He is very dangerous in space and his trademark move is a 30m run followed by a goal on the run.

Batchelor is good overhead for his size, has clean hands and is prepared to use his left foot. Knows where the goals are.

Weaknesses: At only 68kg, would need a few seasons in the gym before been ready for AFL. Tends to play unaccountable football and can struggle if tightly checked by his direct opponent.

Footydraft.com comment: Can look very good on his day but found the going tougher in the final two games of the carnival when he was tightly marked. Worth a rookie listing.

See he agreed with you though.

Don't know about the next Schammer but I would have at least invited him to the training.

He is very quick (came 2nd in the state screening camp) and has beautiful foot skills. He carries the ball well. Yes he is very skinny and is very much an outside player but if you get him the ball he will hurt you. At underage level at least.

He would need some serious gym work but I would have thought he would at least get an invite. Maybe Port invited him before we got a chance.
