Well i cant predict a top 10 cause i dunno who will be left from the psd. But whicheva of kirkby or grundy will be richmonds #1 pick if there still avaialble. If we cant get these i want richmond to get the follwoing:

Jackson Barling, Earl Shaw and Dale May.

If you want Shaw you'll need to take him in the PSD. I'll be amazed if he isn't taken off the table by the Swans by the time the rookie draft comes along.

I may be wrong, but I think the Swans and the Lions get first dibs at any locals in the rookie draft anyway. So if Clarke and Earl are not picked up in the PSD, they will get to stay at home.

Which is what I said - or was trying to.

They can only pick three each though, so if the Swans have three others they prefer Shaw will be available for other clubs. Given the premium placed on ruckmen at trade time it would be strange, though, if they passed up on Shaw even if they have reservations about the non-rucking aspects of his game.

They will already have some idea about both he and Clarke since both played a handful of games in 2004 as ring-ins into the reserves team, as did another local youngster, Andrew Hayes, who I think is a cousin of Lenny.

Burgatron's phantom draft (on afl.com.au) nominated the following players in order who were not drafted, so they would probably be a fair list to work off.

Kirkby
Grundy
Toovey
Pearce
Jackson
Bain
Sharp
Smith
Wilkes
Nye
Nayna

I guess a couple of them will go in the PSD.

Traditionally not a heap of 18 year olds get taken in the rookie draft - last year only 21 of the 57 live picks were underage players, and in 2002 just 19 out of 58.

About a dozen TAC Cup players will get picked up, along with the SA and WA clubs taking perhaps half a dozen locals. SA and WA clubs traditionally don't stray outside their home state, and are likely to take 2-3 players from the WAFL or SANFL who have senior experience.

Qld and NSW will take the likes of Ed Clarke, Earl Shaw, Marty Pask and Marcus Allen.

Over the last two years a total of 33 players have been taken who were on AFL lists the year before - expect quite a few delisted youngsters to get retaken.

For example, I'd almost put money on someone taking Luke Mullins (especially Collingwood re-drafting him).

VFL should provide about half a dozen as well - usually a couple of real surprises.

So whilst it seems logical that the highly rated TAC Cup players would be picked up, a couple could be overlooked all together because clubs want to see how they go in senior competition for a year.

Having said that, I'd be amazed if Kirkby, Grundy, Bain and Sharp weren't selected. I still rate Clinton Young as well.

Collingwood's rookies will come out of:

Jackson Barling, Heath Lawry, Luke Jarrad and Ed O'Brien.

Those guys are training with us, so I'd assume they'd be some of the guys we'd take in the Rookie Draft.

As weird as it sounds, who's training with who is usually not much of an indicator!

Guy Campbell from the bendigo Bombers will be rookied to either Sydney or Essendon it is the last year he is eligible as a rookie

I believe Luke Jarrad trained preseason with Collingwood last year but didn't get taken as a rookie. Not sure about Lawry or Barling, but O'Brien sounds like a speedmachine athlete who plays in a position that could release some of our small backs into the midfield - that is if he can also play football.

I've seen Harry O'Brien play a bit as a junior. Didn't know who he was until recently but he always impressed me. Those Brazilians are just natural movers, wouldn't be surprised if he carved out an AFL career if Collingwood take him.

Heath Lawry is a KPP who played the second half of the season with Williamstown seniors. He is originally from Qld and he is very big boy with good running ability and skills. He is a big chance to be rookie listed.

Ben Davies has been told he will be rookied by collingwood, but if Caracella isnt selected in the pre season draft he may be taken then.

Watched Harry O'Brien play as a U16 for Bullcreek Leeming. Stood head and shoulders above the whole comp and won the F&B by a country mile. He then played for Claremont Colts for a couple of years and State U18's. As a kid he was also an outstanding athlete. He is as tough as nails.

anybody know whether Josh Gibson from Port Melbourne has a chance in the rookie draft??? are north melbourne interested???

I think the Kangaroos will take him for sure Richo the only problem is someone may get in before hand.

I'd expect Sydney to take Ed Clarke,Earl Shaw and Troy Bartlett as their 3 NSW picks. Brisbane to take Will Hamill,Ed McConnell and Marty Pask.

Saw him play for the Bouragh in the finals - looks a natural back pocket. I'd look at him late.

The word on Heath Lawry ain't great. Sounds a little unfit.
