Rookie Draft is today.
We are supposed to be picking up Lew Pearce and Tom Lamb. Any chance we reneg and pick up someone else? Holmsey to me would be a better pick up than Lew Pearce.

Pierce is still contracted which may be why we chose to grab him rather that Holmes. Alos their age may be a factor. I agree though, Holmes would be a better back up if our two were to go down.

How funny if we picked Boekhorst LOL

I actually watched a blues game this year and he was excellent in it, I can't remember who they were playing. I thought he might have turned the corner.

Doughton Abbey - ha ha ha ha another hbflanker

#21 Doulton Langlands – Langlands doesn’t often stand out in any particular areas, but this was one of his better games as he made his mark with some great run and carry. He’s a regular across half-back for Murray and he played that quarterback-type role perfectly as he gathered a wealth of uncontested ball and running bounces. He also impacted the scoreboard with his sole major and three score assists from some sharp inside 50 entries.

Doulton Langlands' work rate was as high as any in the day's action. He ran from half back to half forward, to the wing on the other side of the field and then pushed back again, all in the one play, covering in excess of 100 metres in one sequence without slowing. On another play, Langlands ran with ball in hand 20m in the back 50m arc, kicked short to a target, then ran in support from half-back to half-forward. While the 187cm, 79kg, GWS Academy member only had the 10 disposals, he provided run with ball in hand and kicked long.

Check them guns!!!

"Doulton Langlands is an outside midfielder who is tied to the GWS Giants’ Academy. Considered a rookie prospect, Langlands has plenty of tools which can hurt opposition players, in particular his speed and deadly kicking. He finished the TAC Cup season with a kicking efficiency of 66 per cent and regularly showed plenty of X-factor along the wing. He needs to improve his endurance and inside game – just 36 per cent of his possessions were won in a contest – but his leadership and kicking is quite impressive.

Step aside Bonar - we've selected someone with real x factor

In fairness, this from AFL Draft Central (June this year) sounds better:

"This man’s work in the backline was a huge reason behind the close finish. His decision-making and running was a key factor behind his teams movement along the wing. When this kid grabbed the ball he was off. It could be easily argued that he was the biggest problem for Stingray’s forward line, being way too quick for any of their players. Langlands has a lot of potential, showing he can do at all if he’s needed to. If you ask me, he definitely has a future in this game."

Another post mentions extensive midfield time. Played alongside Paton, could be a gem in the rough our boy Langers.

Barrels?

That’s a ridiculous name.

The poor campaigner would have been bullied and ridiculed all through high school, which is obviousl why we drafted him because he’ll be resilient as ****.
Hey, don't damage the Doulton!

Big wake up call for Tom Lamb. Now not on an AFL list.

If he had any brains his wake call would have been about 4 years ago when teachers were telling him to pull his head in. You can have all the ability in the world but a bad attitude overlooks all that. Doubt he will wake up now. He seems more like sleepy.

Will he persevere and demand selection as a mature ager next year or just float on? Up to him now, time will tell.
Lets hope he makes something of it.
