Now that Knights and Birdman are out does this make Ricky (think that's his name) Henderson a better bet than Phil Davis?

Stanley & Skipper both look realistic chances for that 4th spot on your ruck list.

Skipper will probably play until Taylor and Baily return so he has every chance to earn 100k+.

Stanley is a good chance to play as a third ruck and extra forward option perhaps as early as round 1. In any event he can potentially earn some bucks.

I know there is a another thread on this but throwing the towel in for the 4th ruck could cost you some bucks come late season that may be the difference between winning and losing in your league.

As much as I am a huge fan of Stanley, I'm unsure how much gametime he will manage to get. There are many big guys ahead of him at the Saints. However, being 4th ruck, probably doesn't matter much

Agree but worth the spot for 4th ruck:thumbsu:

Something to keep in mind is that Lyon said post the GF that he perhaps had to much investment in his best 22 and would look at playing some more depth this year. I guess it's all about insurance in case injuries etc hit late season. Given that I can see Stanley being given a run at times through the year as he has performed well in the NAB cup to date.

Any one want to have a go at naming some good rookie price ruckmen? :o

Lobbe hasn't been good so far and probably won't get a spot come round 1 (Cloke has come through as front-runner for that #2 ruck spot). J. Trengove probably won't survive past Chaplin's return a few rounds in. Roughead has been alright but will be dropped once Minson and Hudson are back to full fitness. Warnock is likely to play consistent games but costs more than other ruckmen and has injury issues. Skipper is a spud.

I'm really thinking about getting a 83k no-name dud who won't play and using the 17K elsewhere.

skipper stocks increased this weekend

Mark Williams has said Mitch Banner is almost a certainty to play round 1, Andrew Moore is in the running to play round 1 and Hitchcock is set to be elevated.

A better bet, yes. But still not a great bet overall. I think Schmidt and Young would be ahead of both of them.

Unfortunately, I think all 4 could be bypassed if a lot of our guns come back for round 1.

Henderson looked alright today. Better than Young and certainly better than Davis, who I'm not sure even played.

Davis played. Sounds like he was fairly quiet

If you visit the Crows board some of the lads have predicted round 1 teams and when you get some of our names back there's just no room for Schmidt, Young, Davis & Henderson.

Sounds like Armstrong and Cook were the standouts of the youngsters and probably only one of those 2 will even make round 1, depending on injuries.

Plenty of options in the midfield and some good ones up forward too in Lewis Jetta, Podsiadly, Dennis-Lane, etc - defence is the problem!

Who is everyone's best rookie defender?

I'd say Maguire is a must have. Silvagni could be an interesting one if he gets elevated...Freo have had a couple of injuries to talls haven't they?

Few of the reports on our board suggest Armstrong was very good.

same could be said about roughead, Hudson and Minson are 1 and 2 but Roughead will get game time this year, just off topic, i think minson could be a good pick up, will ruck more with Hall there, he could have a big season.

Moles is another who will see alot of game time imo, and could be like picken last year, given a late chance due to injury and take it, once in the side if he is doing all the right things should be dropped.

I just think that the Bullies have a good midfield as it is, can't see him scraping in for a while. Late in the season, every chance.

same as Picken last year, if he didn't get his chance in Rd 2 then who know how he would have gone, just goes to show gotta take your chance, now with Johno be said to miss Rd 1 this could just be his chance and once in if he is doing all the right things it will be hard to drop him.

I do agree with you we have got some depth there, still gotta fit in Hill Everitt Addison Stack Wood Ried just to name a few with Moles

barlow from freo get elevated today and almost a certainty for round 1....
