Is that right? I guess that opens up the possibility that maybe he might be able to play other roles, especially as people talk about him as being skilled, hard and having (some) pace.

That idiotic statement serves to highlight your absolute lack of knowledge of the boy. Courage is and always has been one of his strongest qualities, ask around simpleton and you'll soon find out.

I didn't ask around but I looked around and this is what Tony T from After Grog Blog (Melbourne FC blog) had to say about Armstrong:

"Not as good as he should be. He has good goal sense, takes a tidy grab for his height, and does some clever things. But he’s a bit slow and doesn’t like it in close or where he can be aware of what’s around him as he nears the ball. The result is his hands aren’t one-grab when he’s under pressure. His kicking to a leading target is suss, too. He often misjudges the distance. Most likely he will drop the kick short because he tries to be too delicate."

So is he one-touch in the clinches, gaylord?

Tony T eh now he would know what he's talking about wouldn't he? Go and talk to Coaches who have had an involvement with the boy, start with Stan Magro and the other coaches who were at Perth when he was there, try Phil Smart and his recruiting staff also Trevor Woodhouse. I am very confident that not one of them would have reservations about his courage or commitment to the hard contest.
