In all there are six “extraordinary” positions on the list, for up to two veterans and the remainder for rookies. Peter Matera is the only veteran since the retirement of Dean Kemp, so the club can fill the balance of the squad with five rookies.

Buszan has continued to train with the club since nominating for the draft while several promising players from the WAFL have been invited to participate in training.

They include Craig DeCorsey (Swan Districts), Clinton Austerberry (East Coast Eagles), David Crawford (Claremont), Daniel Gilmore (South Fremantle), Quentin Lynch (West Perth), Clancy Rudeforth (Claremont), Tom Matson (Claremont) and Luke Webster (East Perth).


So does that mean that McCarrey and Beek are not certainties to be kept on the rookie list?

Since they are both local boys, they were only on a 1 year rookie contract. So yes, their positions aren't secure although they have probably been given a verbal agreement by the club.

No, i don't think Anyone is guarenteed, but they more than likely will e retained. I am still hoping Buszan is put back on, but i am part of a minority now i feel;(

I assumed that McCarrey and Beeck were automatically on the rookie list next year. I think the club might have sent a message to the AFL saying which rookies they were going to keep. The club is just trying to explain the circumstances which leads to us have five rookies.
