Not a bad result methinks

Lynch and Rudeforth we all chose beforehand I think. Like Webster was stolen by the cheaters.

Tuckey looks interesting. A 1.92m 22 year old who didn't get much of a chance at the pies but was their fastest player over 20metres. Played FF but maybe could be groomed as FB too with that speed. I would say that he is the one likely to be elevated to the main list as his age fits in with the new young player group of the future.

And he has AFL experience.
I must say I actually saw one of his games, and he didn't do TOO bad at all. Nothing special, but wasn't bad either.

Tuckey deserved a second chance.

I thought he was developing pretty well at Collingwood, but this season he couldn't get a game because of guys like Molly, Tarrant, Rocca and Fraser.

He's a smart lead, good mark and can kick straight.
And with our forward line, anyone is welcome.

Shame that Webster's talent will be wasted at Dorker land.
He's tough, passionate and plays with heart. These qualities don't fit in with the Dorkers.

Shame about Webster, trust them to pinch him from our turf (East Perth!)

I don't know all that much about Tuckey, so I won't make any judgements just yet. I just hope he isn't going to be a complete hack/dud like Greg Harding.

Anyone else notice that Buszan wasn't picked up? Maybe his ankle was too dodgy after all.

lol, I have had 4 collingwood supporters say the complete opposite, can't kick, can't mark and can't lead.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Funny how 90% of people on bigfooty boards tend to bag players that their club de-lists!!!!!!!
I reckon from what I have read he may be a good chance for us and I reckon Jaxon Crabb is a good chance for Port too.

Interesting that we were so interested in him that we took him with the first pick we had. That's a sign of confidence, surely?

Brent Tucket with the #3. I'm still getting over it. Why did we go him, there were plenty of other talented 18 year olds that we could have gone with but didn't. Sounds like a strong contender for next years hack medal on Buzz's site if you ask me.

What happened to Craig Glancy? An all-australian and he didn't get picked up at all? I thought maybe Aidan Parker would have been picked up but he wasn't? To tell you the truth, I think we screwed up this rookie draft, we wasted our best pick on a not very highly rated younster. Even the official Collingwood website's player profile isn't very complimentary. They go just short of calling him a hack if you ask me:

BRENT TUCKEY was drafted as a 17 year old from Ballarat Rebels with selection No.19 at the 1996 National draft.

It was the choice swapped by Carlton for Mick McGuane.

He has a good spring, but needed to learn plenty about the game in the arly stages of the career.

He was close to senior selection in late 1997, and did not make the breakthrough as early was expected in 1998.

A brief taste in three games late in 1998 was a foundation to work on, yet he did not make the seniors again until Round 6, 1999 and even then it was only for one game.

After half a dozen games in the reserves he was promoted again for six senior matches and his high flying skills were in evidence on several occasions . However it was not enough to hold his place and he spent the last month in the reserves.

Tuckey started the 2000 season as Collingwood's preferred centre half-forward but, despite his enormous potential, struggled to find consistency.

In fact, he spent long periods in 2000 in the reserves and, in most of his eight senior games, started on the interchange bench. Tuckey, at just 21 years of age at the start of the 2001 season has time on his side as key forwards need experience to show their best.

An oustanding mark, Tuckey is seen as a long-term investment at the McHale Stadium.

Sounds like a good player!

Vis, I reckon the decision to allow a rookie on the main list determined we went for the best player available in the 21-24 age bracket. Don't forget he is replacing Kemp to make up the 38. I think having four genuine rookies in the two picked today plus Beek and McCarrey are enough teenagers. We have McDougall and a lot of 20 year olds and under too. So I reckon it is a fair bet to get someone a bit older with a chance of making a contribution this year. His cost will be half of the cost of a third round draft pick, so not a lot. He also will peak at the same time as most of our top hopefuls so gives depth to the potential flag chance of 2004 we are hoping for. I am sure that if it were not for the elevation to full list new rule we'd have gone for another good 18yo

I have a few concerns about his (Tuckey) character. On the AFL website, under his profile he put stuff like he hates getting his hair messed up and stuff about Manpower. He seems a bit immature and might need to do some growing up FAST if he wants to impress at the Eagles.

The thing you've got to remember is that the rookie draft very rarely produces great amounts of talent.
I mean Chad Fletcher and Dean Cox are the only players we've got from it.

Selecting Tuckey and promoting him straight away, gives the Eagles an extra option up forward that we sorely needed.
And even if he doesn't make the grade, we haven't really given up anything for him.
Plus we still got to select Rudeforth and Lynch who along with McCarrey look exciting prospects.

I know Tuckey hasn't done much yet in his career, but he's still young, and when he was at Collingwood I thought he had genuine potential.

Hopefully he'll make the most of his second chance.

Brent Tuckey is a bloody try hard model, not a footballer. Read some of his reponses off his interview:

Describe your perfect weekend?
I'm looking in the mirror all weekend.

What is your greatest extravagance?
My haircare products

What were your plans if you were not drafted?
Modelling for Dimmey's catalogues.

The worst thing about being an AFL footballer ... and the best?
Worst - having to wear a jumper; best - showing my body off.

The coach often says:
You're an iron bar, Tucker.

If you were invited to a fancy dress party who/what would you go as?
Manpower

What's the worst thing your brother or sister did to you as a child?
Messed up my hair.

What was your first job?
As a model for Dimmeys.

Favorite Music CD?
Elton John

Sounds a real ******** to me who needs a kick up the arse by someone and needs to be told he is a footballer and should ****ing act like one. I cannot believe we chose this guy with the #3 pick when there were players that were touted to go in the top 40 of this years draft who missed out. What a waste of a good pick...

He'll fit right in with McDougall then. Heaps of potential, lack of IQ.

It all sounded fine to me - until he mentioned his favourite music..;)

Give him a break, he was just having abit of fun.

I'm sure all the players that listed Home and Away in their profiles as being their favourite tv shows weren't all being 100% serious either.

For all we know, he could be a very private person and rather than wanting to discuss himself seriously in public, he chose 'humour' instead.
