Listening to the Saturday morning sports show it appears that Burns played very well for the magpies which by the way were trashed by Norwood by some 11 goals:D . Russell Ebert, who was at the game said that he was really impressed by Ronnie and he was one of the shining light for the magpies. Burns played "here, there and everywhere" and according to Russell he will not be playing many games in the SANFL this year. Hope he is right.:(

That's great news... seems to be very much a confidence player. When it's up he's a miracle worker, when it's down he's very ordinary.

Hopefully he'll fight his way into the side and kick a couple of those arsey goals for us like he did at Geelong ;)

Just a shame about the result :(

Good to see Ronnie respond to being left out of the round 1 team with a good game for Port. Also, great to see Gags was BOG for Norwood. 3 goals & 16 possesions in the 1st quarter if you believe the Tiser. James knows he will have to burn to extend his AFL career beyonf 2003.

He is a good player but it would seem Reilly, Mattner and probably Doughty are ahead of him atm in the minds of the match committee.

The Crows have 39 players in their squad of which 5 come from Westies (Welsh, Rutten, Marsh, Jericho and Schuback) who had the bye, and Begley out injured leaving 33 players of whom 22 naturally will be playing for the Crows and 11 who played in the SANFL

Very pleasing to see some excellent efforts from our SANFL players, with 7 of the 11 making their team's best players lists.

Hentschel played a big game for the Eagles kicking 4.4 and his turn at AFL level will come sooner rather than later if he maintains his latest form.

Shirley played another top game for the Eagles as an on-baller, but his chances really relate to filling in for Stinga.

Gallagher was outstanding for Norwood and is just waiting a chance.

Team-mate Massie also found plenty of the ball and he also is just waiting for a chance.

Ronnie Burns had 27 touches off a HF flank in a Port Magpies team that got thrashed and will definitely get his chance soon.

Schell kicked 6 big ones without a miss, but the doggies kicked 32 altogether, so he should have had plenty of opportunities. Waiting behind Hentschel IMO.

The unlucky Doughty played a good game for the Panthers, and is just another waiting for a chance to bust into this queue of mid-fielders.

These 7 are certainly putting pressure on the boys playing today.

The 4 that didn't make their teams best players were

Nelson
Smith
Crowell
Bock

and of these 4 only Crowell is a player who would be considered for selection at this stage.

The depth is looking good!!:)

Hentschel has played well picking up 17 possesions and 6 marks but I would have expected him to kick a bit straighter for goal, but overall a very good game from Trent. I think he played at CHF for the Eagles. Another player that was named in best players for the Eagles is rookie listed Hayden Skipworth who finished the game with 27 possesions.

Happy to see Burns put in a great game and also kicked a goal in a losing side. Gallagher, if you can believe the stats in the tiser, finished the game with 35 touches and kicked 3.2. Good to see one of my favourite Crows put up his hand for selection.

Also, rookie listed Aidan Parker, played for South and finished the game with 13 possesions and 4 marks. I never expect him to finish in the best players but he will do his job week in week out.

Good to see a lot of players putting their hand up for selection. You go boys!!!!!!:D :D :D :D :D :D
