hopefully they retire it for like 10 years. Kinda like how Jordan did with the Chicago Bulls. Until Jordan made his comeback, i don't think Roo will be doing that anytime soon.

I reckon it should be the Captains number, like 1 at some clubs and 19 (I think, no real idea) at Richmond.

I was thinking the same thing, but there are some lines of division as to whether he was our best captain. Bickley was a two time premiership captain and great leader. Roo however was the better player. I hope he passes it on in the same way Grant and Archer have in recent days.

they are going to retire it for a couple of years. 2-3 atleast, and then Roo will make his decision in who he wants to wear it.

I would like to see the idea in giving it to the captain. 32 can be the Captain's number of the Adelaide Football Club, just like 1 is at Port, and 17 is at Richmond. Not a bad idea at all.

Adelaide probably cant do that, it would disrespect Bickley and I guess technically he is our best captain ever as he captained 2 premierships, and Roo captained 1 night premiership.

i dont agree with retiring champion players numbers
i think it should be given to an up and coming champion and give him something to strive for

eg (from a port perspective) Pearce took Tredreas number 16 and Motlop took Wanganeens number 4

I think it would be an honour for a young crow to take Roos number 32. Perhaps someone like Knights or Douglas

a question.... do players ever change number at the Crows? usually 1-2 Port kids change number and move to a permanent number. I expect someone like Chaplin to take Wakelins number 2

Vince has just changed his number so it is now the same as he wears for Woodville West Torrens. I do remember when they changed the list sizes Rhen was offered another number but he declined as he wanted to keep his 52 because no one else in the afl was going to have the same number.

I'm in favour of a 1 or 2 year retirement - and then Roo handing it onto someone who has caught his eye - someone he thinks is worthy of wearing #32.

ie vB

Who already has a famous number :thumbsu: (and not because of anyone who had it first).

I hope Roo picks better than Mark Bickley's first effort.

Don't see VB changing, he already has a champions number, Douglas the same, Porplyzia has been suggested, another Westies boy, god forbid, maybe Dangerfield might be given the honour, AFC hold him in high regard, also reckon Sellar might be a chance in a year or so, boys who in a year or so might carry it well into the future.

Like the idea that blokes who have given an extraordinary amount to the footy club can choose who to give their number to.

I imagine getting a number like roos would be inspiring for any player, maybe they could give it to certain players and certain players could pull their fingers out.
