If we get Hogan, I'll be very pleased with Lobb.
If we don't get Hogan it will be nothing to do with the Lobb deal.

Just keep in mind, the Ginats have played hardball before, they need a ruckman desperately and need Lobb. So Freo gonna need to offer a good deal.

I still think a young ruckman may need to be passed on

Interesting. I think that might seal the fates of Apeness and Strndica in a way

If we get Lobb we'd be negligent to not be trying to offload at least one of Jones/Meek/Nads/Ape. I would like to keep Apeness the most of these four. But we can't keep em all can we?

i'm calling the headline now...

Rory Lobbs In To Freo

Honestly guys, as a giants member over here is Sydney, you will be sitting here this time next year saying, why was I against getting Lobb.

I would have been gutted if he went to the eagles. He is mobile, faster than he looks, and his hands are unreal. In the goal square he is dangerous as !!

Plus Wilson is very used to taking a kick in, and belting it 60 metres down the wing to a contest with Lobbs hands in the air. We have been trying to get Sandi to do that for years.

I will be stocked if the club can pull it off, whether we get Hogan or not

I'd like for Apeness to get a solid run but he hasn't held up injury wise so far and might be another player that doesn't have a body that can stand up to constant AFL.

Lobb is a good player and will improve our team. He'll put out his usual game and be dangerous up forward. If we get him for a good value pick (2nd rounder) we'll have done well IMO.

I agree. He is a good get if we can make it happen which should be doable I expect.

If we get him for minimal cost then great, I just think he is a bit like Crozier in that he has some great highlights but goes missing a lot. Definitely an upgrade on who we have in that Ruck / FWD position though.

He is the exact player we have long yearned for! Elite contested mark, backup ruck that will improve our forward structure significantly. All our current rucks are one dimensional lugs. Lobb addresses multiple shortfalls and if paired with hogan will setup our forwardline for years to come.

Lobb for Meek and a future third. Too optimistic? [emoji12]

Haha probs

I dont really want to be giving more than a second for Lobb. I dont think he provides enough of an upgrade on Tabs (if at all) to warrant it.

Future 2nd or 22 from Brisbane with their choice of Meek/Jones/Ape or Nads as some blunt steak knives

If we can get Lobb, forget about taking a punt on Hogan.

I'm not opposed to both but regardless of how much people want to compare the two individually Lobb fits our forward structure much better. I'd also like to hit this years draft with decent picks whilst saving next years first for other potential trade targets. Should be interesting regardless to see what actually eventuates this trade period. I feel confident with Bell & Rosich being there for us.

Yeah I reckon that's the tradeoff. Without knowing who is out of contract, I'd suggest we'd probably look to move on one or two talls in some fashion

Even setting aside Sandi for a second -

Jones / Meek / Nads / Ape / Darcy / Lobb is 6 rucks/ruckforwards - I think we only need 4 on our list

2 pure rucks, 2 ruck forwards - where one of the ruck forwards rolls into a backup ruck position for the pure rucks. That's not consider Tabs can perform a ruck forward role as well (I have him as a forward first)

I'd rather free up spots for developing our midfield

"WANTAWAY Greater Western Sydney tall Rory Lobb has settled on Fremantle as his preferred new home over West Coast.

Lobb is contracted to the Giants for 2019 but has met recently with both West Australian clubs with the Giants' permission.

AFL.com.au can confirm Lobb will seek a trade to the Dockers in what shapes as a genuine coup for a club that has been hunting a star spearhead for much of the past decade."
