Where you guys been hiding him ?

As i don't get down to Adelaide as often as i use to i have seen very little of this guy so to say i was impressed with his performance yesterday is a vast understatement, after a shaky start to the game really came into his own in the last two & a half quarters when it was needed, great poise & willing to get his own ball but best of all knows how to use it (well most of the time)

If we can keep putting in game time to Rory & the other kids this year then look out in the years ahead.

I was very impressed with his game yesterday, from my perspective he ticked all the boxes. Hard at the ball, good decision making, contested ball and his impact in the last half contributed greatly to the win. Love this kid.

Went to his debut against the Hawks - he had about 4 touches, but 5 tackles in limited game time.

The kid is a ripper, been on board the Sloane train from day one. The foot skills? Majority of his errors were "good" errors - he was a little eager to get rid of the ball quickly out of a willingness to play creatively, a few overzealous handballs, but this is all part of the learning curve and will regulate itself quickly. I know those who've been watching his SANFL footy (where again he hasn't been able to get real continuity) will disagree with me, but his kicking base is good on both feet.

Genuine hard nut, chases, tackles, loves a goal, and the beauty of it is he will stay for as long as we want him. Loyal as they get. The sort of footballer you want in the trenches with you when finals roll around.

Disposal is still a bit suspect, although his kicking technique doesn't seem too bad, if he can just work on his short game ie 15-30m kicks and perfect those he'll be a really good player. Besides that, love his attack on the ball, his enthusiasm, courage, moves well etc. Should make for a good "inside" player for us, for years to come.

He is a hardened Myke Cook.

No coincedence he is in and we lift our tackle count?

Nah, Sloane will be a consistent inside and outside ball winner, your bread and butter competitor who rarely puts a bad one in. Cooky's a spark player. That's my take on it anyway.

Loved his effort yesterday. We had a bit of a laugh when in the forward 50. He looked like this big eager kid, so excited but not quite sure what to do.

He's definitely a 1%er player. Love his attack on the ball and player. Polish those foot skills (60% I think) and he'll be a really good contributer.

I like his ability, but I love his effort.

I don't care if he has a few bad games, but if he is healthy and his effort is there then keep playing him.

As good as Edwards was yesterday, I can't wait to see how our promising youngsters go with more responsibility.

I thought this was his breakout game. Is this the first time he's played two in a row for the seniors?

*checks*

Yep, and it shows.

Last week he was in the right places, but did't get enough of it. Impressed me, though. This week, he was right in it, and had a lot more confidence to do what he does best: going hard at it and positioning himself really well. Great back-up work for other players, too -- saw him providing crumb/gather support for Walker and Pets.

He's not backing himself enough with his kicking, but his errors were mostly rushing/over-committing. It'll come.

Yep love the attack on the ball and willingness to get his hands dirty. Tackling is exactly what we need in our team!
It was great to see Tyson get a great send off but the fact that a lot of the young guys stepped up to make it possible is mostly what i took outta the game.
4 qtr efforts for the rest of the season and we'll be more than competitive....and build big confidence in our young guys for next year!
Keep up that intensity Sloane :thumbsu:

He was fantastic - I really think that Tyson coming out and giving him a massive wrap early in the week and stating he wanted Sloane to take #9 had an impact on him; yesterday he played like somebody who felt comfortable with his position in the side, and a player who'd found confidence that he could make it at that level.

Led from the front, looked like he refused to let Tyson's last game be a loss, and sparked the entire side with some of his repeated efforts.

Adore the way he just throws himself at everything. Imagine if he'd kicked that goal in the second half, did everything right but just couldn't get it through the sticks.

Offers more than Cook. Was a great input considering 2 weeks ago he didn't get near for the Roosters.

Not sure if he is genuinely a poor kick or if his disposals were more nervousness or over excitement. Has sensational hands.

agreed (though i've always rated Sloane higher than Cook anyway), and Sloane will show much rapid development when given more games. i was very impressed with his performance yesterday. other than his shot on goal (which was quite horrible, but expected, thus was so glad he passed off his first shot to Goodwin, despite stuffing that up slightly), he was very good everywhere else.

His handballing skills are outstanding. Needs to be at the bottom of each pack dishing it out to Mackay :thumbsu: Agree that he offers more than Cook, his inside work is much better, however, at this stage, their kicking is similar. Really needs to keep them lower, but he has the right idea so his decision making is fine, same cannot be said for Cook.

Pretty sure it was seven tackles in limited game time ;)

Has a beautiful inside and outside game, if he can improve his kicking skills he'll be elite.

He has that unteachable ability to hit a target in the most unlikely contested situations. Between him and Dangerfield's crash and bash extraction style, we've got a couple of very good inside players for the next 10+ years.

Stabby's basement.

Sloane: Thanks for picking me up from the airport... wait, you're not my regular driver?

cmndstb: Oh, he called in sick, I'm filling in for him today. So where to Mr. Sloane?

Sloane: Home thanks.

30 minutes later...

Sloane: Hey driver, didn't we just pass the turn off to my place? Where are we going?

cmndstb: Have you ever seen Misery, Rory?

Sloane: No?

cmndstb: Then this'll all be new to you kid

* Raises the partition and drives off into the night

We should probably alert the police to Stabby's habits just in case.
