Ross Glendinning Medal

AFL actually only started in 1990. The Steve Malaxos medal? Stavros played for East Fremantle and apparently their history counts towards Freo's so he ticks that box as well.

The most hilarious element of that to me is apparently the reason behind Freo accepting that the medal be called the Ross Glendinning Medal all those years ago is because they "had no history at the time due to only being in the comp for 6 years" and yet Freo fans love to claim that the history of the WAFL sides from the Fremantle area is theirs as well. i.e Doig medal.

They love having it both ways.

It’s literatly perfect.

The Eagles though are in a tough spot. They aren’t going to say ‘oh sure, let’s rename the medal’ when Rosco is on the payroll. That’s just embarrassing. To call it the ‘Derby Medal’ no less...come on...boring...

If the lavenders had any smarts at all they would have waited until they won a derby and had the trophy before opting out ........ idiots!!

Fremantle are completely correct and it is an appropriate time for a change. Glendinning is much more relevant for WCE and it should be equally valued on both sides. Very petty from WCE hierarchy and they should have just taken this as an opportunity to create something new, rather than trying to get one over the opposition.

Haha honestly I’m gonna side with Freo fans on this. We expect the AFL to treat us fairly, yet we don’t want to change the name of a medal to something that reflects both sides.

They thought the medal reflected both teams when it was first introduced..
