Didnt say it was his fault, just said he probably has night terrors.
Then again he probably sleeps nice n sound on his pillow cases filled with money.

Nah it is his fault as he does nothing to try and correct or minimise those skill errors.

Ross Lyon doesn't coach skill errors!

Having said that , I'm not sure he coaches skills. I thought that StKilda's kicking and marking in particular went backwards during the Lyon era, and he certainly didn't play skilful players ahead of others.

I'm not saying it I'm just quoting Ross Lyon.

To be honest if true it is a shit house way of coaching.

Having trouble in front of the sticks? Yes
Should we practise that? No
Create drills to simulate pressure and match conditions? No

Doesn't make much sense to me but then again I've never played the game in an organised competition.

However I have played other sports and constantly practising the skills is a huge part of the training in those.

Yes mate, we should have had 2 premierships with the team we had, but Lyon made mistakes, 1 x GF he picked his love child Zac Dawson over Max Hudghton every St.kilda supporter knew that was a mistake. the 2nd GF picked Michael Gardiner who was suspect from the start and didn't see the game out, all season he had 2 rucks Gardiner & McEvoy but Collingwood only had 1 [Jolly] so we only need one. HUGE MISTAKE. I'm very happy with Watters, the results will come in time, it will be interesting to see where Freo will be then and the million dollar question, Where will Lyon be.

Welcome 2bomot2b Look forward to more of your posts

Even though he took us past the prelim stage I still always preferred GT as our coach. Nothing like attacking football where you knew the instant the ball came in from full back it would be down the other end in no time. Nothing like having a full forward who could kick 100+ a season and bags of 10. And Roo kicking 60+ in that same season.

And nothing like beating two teams back to back by 108 and 101, especially when one of those teams was Carlton :p

Lyon will likely head for the Gold Coast then, and make himself look like a coaching legend even more with a hot list. Like to see how good a coach he really is, but doubt he would ever go to a bottom side like Melbourne and risk all credibility and be exposed.

1) Pretty sure in 2010, we only went in with Gardi who got injured, then Ben for the replay. Could be wrong.

2) Interesting argument though... given that Max was suspect with injury throughout 2009 and yet he should have played... but was a mistake to play Gardi??

3) we didn't have Gherig playing at his peak under Lyon

4) GT'style was ok until teams threw numbers back and then we were screwed.

Eddy had a broken arm and rumours were quite strong there was something wrong with CJ's foot.

He is also hopeful of putting a string of injuries including a broken arm, jaw and hand behind him and will wear an arm guard next season after breaking his ulna twice this year.

Eddy played in the two Grand Finals against Collingwood with a broken jaw after he was hurt in St Kilda's preliminary final win against the Western Bulldogs. The 22-year-old played throughout the regular season with a broken bone in his left hand. Adding to that, the hard-nut fractured his forearm in the second term of the Grand Final replay.

Ross' game plan IMO does not work in super high pressure games at the MCG, as it does not allow for ANY errors in play, goal kicking or in luck. The MCG is too wide to adopt a defensive-based press, whereas Hawthorn have an offensive-based press which allows for minor skill errors because they always have numbers near the ball (their short chip game). The amount of times a Hawk skill error resulted in a ball up was numerous today, yet the amount of times a Freo skill error resulted in a scoring shot was plentiful.

Ross somehow needs to tweak this plan even further to make it work on the MCG IMO, make it become more attacking without taking too much away from the defensive side of things

Ross just needs to buy a forward, (eg buddy, or pick 1 to use on boyd,) just like he was bought.

sometimes i just shake my head. the guy had a broken bone in his left hand, was there no other player amonst the saints 40 odd players that could have played that year?

its not as if Eddy was a Reiwoldt, or even a montagna?

I could never understand how Eddy got games ahead of more talented kids like Steven, Armitage and Geary, even harder to understand when he was playing with injuries.

Steven, Armitage and Geary were all injured at the time or hadn't played for 3-4 weeks after recovering from injury.

I think only Steven was available for selection but hadn't played for 3 weeks due to the VFL side not making finals.

Armitage had been recalled for round 21 and 22.
He got 21 disposals in round 22.
Eddy never got 21 disposals EVER.
