OK, be a smart arse.

Did they win any? No, they didn't.

He recruited Peake for ****'s sake, couldn't hang on to a true champion in Luke Ball and puts up with the lack of leadership shown by Reiwoldt.

I suppose when we make the 8 next year you'll be ecstatic, even though it would have happened under Harvey anyway.

In another year Harvey could have proved his worth, or otherwise, and Malthouse would have been available for 2013. Now we're going to be locked into a quickie knee-jerk deal.

you might have a good point there.

Funny thing is this is the 1st time Freo has had an experienced AFL coach who has coached another AFL club Yeah Connoly coached the hawks for 1 game in 2001 as a Hawks assistant but that doesnt count.

Im disapponted how we gave Harvey the Flick after our brillant development from 2008 and It would of been fair if he stayed on.

It was cold blooded but ruthless. It seems the freo board have made their intentions clear: Time to deliver Freos eventual premiership.

I reckon the biggest positive about Lyon is what im about to say next... Lyon was an assistant when the swans won the flag in 2005. He was one of the reasons why Swans had crap all injuries. Hence why Saints got him.

Im hoping he will do the same at Fremantle.

We as supporters get the right to voice our opinions but I would rather have a board who are continually looking to make Freo the best they can be.

As a supporter you have no right to anything at all. If you have forked over your hard earned money, step up and raise your voice, otherwise piss off and shut the **** up.

The board is continually looking to make Freo into a club that isn't Freo.

Have you seen St Kilda's list?

Yes, I have. Its better than ours because they have more experienced players and a plethora of KPPs.

With the talent we have in ours, could be challenging the top 4 next year with Harvs coaching and a decent run with injury.

With Lyon, we've got a guy that's proven he can take a list of a few great players and a bunch of role players to two successive years worth of grand finals. And he's proven he's a solid strategic coach and very good tactician. And he's proven that he can motivate and disclipline guys to play and work for each other..

And suck each other's dicks, and share each other's roots, and take nude pictures of each other that end up on the internet...

With our list and with him coaching (and maybe some Watters action if we could pay him enough) we'll be shaking the living sh*t out of the top four, if we get a decent run without injury and within a couple of years will be pushing for a GF spot.

You as much as acknowledged that this would happen under Harvey anyway in your earlier statements.

Did the club say they'd finished all the player reviews?

I wonder if that process has to start again now?

Apparently they pulled Harvey out half way through a player review meeting and sacked him then and there. Poor form from a shit administration. :thumbsd:

He is a very good coach.

Will demand a lot of your list, physically and mentally.

If you thought this year was injury riddled, you'll need a good fitness guy for 2012.

So angry at him, but I can't lie and say he isn't very capable.

Sainter in what way would u say he has left your list in?
Is it in good shape for the next 5 years?
Or is it in a bad situation with no young players coming through?

I agree Lyon is a very good coach an will get the most out of the players.
Im worried he doesnt plan for the future an develop young players.

I would hate to see our young promising list end up like it did after connolly was our coach.
I fear Lyon is more about the now an happy to trade in avg players instead of developing them.
Ofcourse i have no idea what shape your list is in or how many young players have developed as i couldnt watch saint kilda games as i hated the gamestyle.

so long that we keep are recruiters the same, most of the fears in this post will hopefully be invalid.

Not sure to be honest.

We have some good kids who got injured this year, and you think they will be better for another preseason. We do seem to have alot of 'role players' rather than guys with kicking skills though.

I actually don't think he is going to turn your list defensive, he already changed up his style this year to be more play on and attacking. I just don't think we had the guys to execute it, as mentioned above in regards to kicking skills, and terrible entries inside 50.

He isn't a one trick pony, he is a very good coach, and has probably seen something he can work with there.

Kids do have to wait awhile under Ross though, he has an 'apprenticeship' theory of 3-4 years.

Well **** me! Stay off the internet for a night and look what happens!!!!!!
I'm in shock. . . . First reaction, very impressed. Harves had run his race for mine, his coaching and personal demeanour in the media was all over the shop this year.
But Lyon . . . . **** me, don't know what to think. Should be a great get.
Wow!!!!!

Most exciting thing IMO is I reckon Lyon is the sort of person who'll get the best out of hill. It'd break my heart for him to spend the rest of his career coasting along on the insipid efforts we saw this year.

I remember about two years ago watching a game on Channel 7, for a while there they did these fluffy little half time pieces on certain topics. This particular game had the half time topic of "A week in the life of the Saints" it went through everything from post game rehab for players, the training sessions and most importantly how they planned for the game ahead. At the time it struck me how professional the group was and how the players were all reading from the same page. The player meeting involved the seniors requesting the young guys to verbally tell the playing group the tactics that would be used on the weekend, the strengths of the opposition and how that would be combated and the percieved weeknesses that would be exposed in the game. I was very impressed, if that is the sort of professionalism Lyon brings to us I will be over the moon. Bring it on.

The press release Fremantle have put out really gives you some hindsight into why Harvey has been replaced and why they jumped at Lyon.

It can be read on the Fremantle website.

Nick Dal Santo.

Just like Stephen Hill, opposition supporters call him a soft outside squib, he's far from it. I think Hill has a higher ceiling than NDS, but that would be a good start.

I doubt it'll be you stock-standard Ross Lyon Saints Footy over here with Freo on Patersons. It's too big to play that kind of footy, he'll have to reinvent the wheel. Suffice it to say the pressure will be on him early!! :o

He can just use the same game-plan he has thrashed us with over the years.

Harvey has never coached Fremantle to a victory over St Kilda with Ross Lyon in charge.

And that is what has always impressed me. Whenever we had lost to St Kilda I have always said that we had been out-coached.
