When I read the opening few lines I assumed they would have offered him more coin for 2014-16, but he then went on to say they've just added two more years to the current one. Unbelievable of him because he could've easily held off for a year or so and gotten more if he wanted to.

Champion. Possibly our next captain.

With all these new signings, a lot of them being contract extensions well before they run out, means we're preparing to offer Franklin something gigantic, so we're planning to fit everyone in for the next 3-4 years.

I'm guessing a 4 year deal around $1.2 million, if not more. Although what Roughy said about him didn't fill me with confidence: ''The thing is we know he is here till, you know, October 31, that's when he's contracted till. So nothing's going to happen, he can't go anywhere between now and then, while he's here he's going to make the most of it, that's for sure.''


According to Hodge on Footy Classified a few weeks ago we still have about half a dozen to re-sign. We're re-signing someone every week at this stage. Nothing like the situation that Collingwood had last year, or Geelong in 2010. The club are all over this, as I expected. :thumbsu:

Amazing by big rough.

I honestly think that to a team like the dogs, the dee's or freo, Roughs worth wouldn't be far off a mill a season.

If Melbourne paid 500k for Dawes they'd pay 1mill for rough and give him a 10 year contract. Not quite with the ten years but you get my drift.

I think that Roughy deserves more than $300k per year, I would go so far to say he's in the top 6-8 pay wise at the club
 
So is that everyone? I recall there was a thread about a big forward holding off contract negotiations until the end of the year, but it sounds like that's just been nullified. Good to see you decided not to wait after all, Roughie. Go Hawks!!
 
I know its an extension, but sometimes the whole Buddy thing just seems like a smoke and mirrors act. The kinda stunt Kennett used to pull with his jacket/ rodeo clown routine. If Clarko needed a chopout from some media attention, roll in Jeff to create the distraction.
Buddy played the same role on the weekend, and again the rest of the forward line was able to fly under the radar and come up trumps.
'Hey Buddy, go create a scene, have the other clubs and media go nuts while we sit back here and sign all the rest of our gang with no attention at all.'
How many of our other players haven't even popped up on other teams radars becuase they're focussing on getting the Bud?

Is there an element of this in the bigger picture or am I just reading too much into it?

Will never forget that, RM, and at the time I thought there's a passionate Hawk. Incidentally does anyone know who Rough supported as a kid?

He is right back to his 2008 form and will be a Hawk legend by the time he retires.
