Not one mention of jake king - thoughts? Forgotten due to his dull second half to the season with injuries?

He's not very consistent, that's for sure. He tore it up against Carltank in round 1 last time, though.

Everyone is "over him". Those 2 poor performances in Rounds 2 and 3 mean he is a shit footballer.

Its all about the kids, if you aren't under 22, then leave now. Richo is the only exception :rolleyes::D

Too small, no discipline and can't kick.
A VFL level footballer

Here's my 2 bob's worth for Round 1. It's getting exciting I must say, most optimistic I've been in years;

Before we pen in our side maybe we should have a look at the likely line up of the opposition also, and then plan our attack;

Carlton likely line up;

Rusell Jamison Thornton
Carrazzo Bower Walker
Scotland Stevens Gibbs
Yarran Waite Fischer
Kreuzer Fevola Betts

Cloke Murphy
Judd

Simpson Houlihan Edwards Grigg

Emerg: Bentick, Browne, Hadley

Couldn't really find anyone else to include in the unlikucky to miss section.

Now for our line up

King Thursfield Moore
McMahon McGuanne K.Johnson
Cousins Newman Deledio
White Richardson Cotchin
Riewoldt Schulz Brown

Simmonds Foley
Tuck

I/C - Tambling Pattison Jackson Bowden

Emerg: Coughlan, Morton, Rainnes

Unlucky: Edwards, Hughes, Polo, Rance, Hislop, Thompson, Vickery

Notes: K.Johnson - would like to see him move th o the HBF where he played well for Adelaide and provide plenty of run and counter attack in younger years.

Richo to play at CHF for this game for team balance as I don't see any of the Carlton key defenders able to hold Richo.

Deledio v Gibbs would be a great duel.

Newman to move to the midfield. Has got the makings of a great midfielder, he's got grunt, uses the ball well, rarley makes errors, is creative, and one would presume should now have the aerobic capacity to move to the midfeild.

:thumbsu:Exactly. Personally I'd have Matty White before both of them - Jackson and Tambling too. But you know those four will play before White gets a look-in.
His pre-season and 2008 form should guarantee he plays, but he is far from a certainty!!! Not saying it's right, but that's the reality!
Unfortunatley White isn't a marking backline player, so comparing him to McMahon isn't really fair to either of them. Johnson is a different story, but who do you opt for? The former captain who, though slow, can find the football more than any other full-time midfielder (and though having a propensity to bugger up the disposal, he does get it so often you would expect a higher number of misses than from others) or the super-fast, up-and-coming kid who can use it when he finds it, but doesn't find it nearly as often?

I'm personally finding it really hard to work out who I'd prefer in the team because we have SO MANY great players, promising youngsters, breakout youngsters and kids I'd love to see get a run.

This is, though a little frustrating, a FANTASTIC problem to have in our side. All of our players will have to work their butts off to get a run in the seniors (perhaps with the exception of Richo who will work his butt off regardless because that's just how he rolls).

Just have a look around at the froums and footy news lately - all of a sudden, our side has gone from people saying it's a terrible list to saying it's one of the best lists around. Amazing what a year or so can do...and perhaps some rehab (Coughlan)...recruiting (Cotchin & Cousins)...and coaching (Delidio, Foley, White, Tuck, etc, etc, etc).

FB: Newman Thursfield Moore
HB: Polo McGuane Raines
C: Richo Deledio Cousins
HF: White Riewoldt Morton
FF: Brown Hughes Bowden
Fol: Simmonds Foley Tuck

Int: McMahon, Pattison, Johnson, Tambling

Emg: Schulz, Rance, Coughlan

* Jackson will probably make it because he trains the house down every pre-season but I still have players before him.
**I dont think Cotch will make Round 1 ready to go.
***There is certainly some bias but deal with it. :)
