Review Round 10, 2024 vs Hawthorn

Interestingly our whole defence seems fumbly. I don't think any of them trust each other.
They sure are. Someone mentioned during the match how poor we are at defending ground ball in defence. They were spot on. We fumble, get out positioned, concede goal-side all the time and can’t stick tackles to save ourselves back there. Burton and Aliir are the headliners. Farrell looks the toughest - behind Houston - which says how shocking the others are.

Bergman could be our worst at ground balls. He has no burst of power and takes forever to pick the ball up. Burton would be our worst if he went for the ball. As above poster says not huge fan of Jones but get him the hell back so we can drop Burton. We are to too top heavy up forward. One of Dixon, Marshall, Georgie, Finlayson have to go. Giving more forward time to JHF, Butters & Rozee.

He was near the footy enough today to get more than 9 measly touches including an awful shank from the back pocket that cost a goal. About time that he and Georgiades matured a bit. They are being shown up by a lot of other draft contemporaries and younger players. Bergman is not in the same stratosphere as Will Day who has a scrawny body and has lost numerous weeks with injury. He is so much more desperate and hungry than Bergman. Georgiades may have an excuse coming back from a knee but the odds of him becoming a consistent star are getting longer and longer.
Hey Georgy, you just had your arse kicked by a 14/15th side ranked defender - there's more to than just kicking goals, get the ball and don't rely on silver service delivery-heck!

We as supporters should enjoy wins like this. Wins like this is what made us so formidable in yesteryear. Never write off the Magpies, always in it etc.

I reckon it's all to do with the date on the calendar. 12 years ago today, we were 32 points down against North Melbourne, but Paul Stewart nailed the winner in the dying seconds - we won by 2 points. Then there was today's miracle: we should request a game on May 19 every year, even if it falls on a Wednesday :).

This was on the 19th of May as well.....

That was horrendous. But enjoyed the happy ending. A bit like losing your virginity.

Our player squibbing all over the ground until the last quarter.

The Hawthorn players over celebrating and the fans arcing up made it a pretty sweet finish.

We need to choose between Dixon or Finlayson, Dixons ruck work did get us back into the game
