Skinner did look a step or two behind the pace when he came on, but adrenaline dumps are a hard thing to control and will leave anyone with only one effort at a time until they get a second wind. Sitting the whole game out and then having to come in late in the game and instantly perform isn't for everyone. After his first 10 minutes of looking pretty average, he started to warm up and not look so bad.

I would prefer to have him in for a whole game (maybe 3 quarters) or not in at all personally.

Addison back in. Depending on availability/injury Wood also.

I don't believe Zeph is ready for a full game at this level, and 3 times sub is not ideal for development or fitness. So I think he is one out. Vez looks like a second.
So for me Pearce gets the green vest this week, and Dylan A. and Cordy come back in.

Just what strategies Mac employs for next week will be interesting. Swans at the SCG is a different situation to other games/venues.
Things should be really hot around the stoppages. Could three talls on that postage stamp of a ground prove a match winner, or a match loser ???

Now re Panos and Hill. They are presently being flipped around from position to position each week down at Willy. Whether this is for match ups, or personal development only the coaches would know. But I think they might be allowed to settle into one role for a week or two there prior to promotion, in order to see just how they are performing in the specific role they are going to be used in on début.

Im quietly confident against Sydney without Goodes. He is usually the one who destroys us when we play them. Craig Bird might go out after being a bit down on form, and he kicked 4 last year.

Is Mumford going to be fit for next week? If not their #1 ruck is Pyke. If it's not raining wouldn't mind seeing all 3 of our rucks playing.

I think Mumford is pretty borderline. He'd be close to being back, if not ready.

I'd like to see Pearce get another game. Addison may be lucky if ves is out and think he'll struggle for a spot if wood, Howard and ves are all available later in the season.
Skinner out as well. Could be a player but needs more development in the magoos. Prefer to see cordy or grant playing.

A win will see us going into the bye 5-0-5 which is far more than what we expected, knowing that we have been competitive in all games bar 1

Goodes scored the maximum possible votes in Swans B&F count last time we played at the SCG, that doesn't happen often....more votes are spread out. It is an understatement stating he is sorely missed :(

At this stage, but too early to tell, no rain is forecast for Sydney, partly cloudy at 19degC.

This :thumbsu:

Due to the Swans ressies having a bye this w/e, not really much indication on what the inclusion would be. Mummy is a test away from being right to play, but we won't risk him if not fully fit. Hope is a good game :D

Out: Skinner, Sherman, Vespremi

In: Cordy, Addison, Grant

Dahlhaus as the sub. Not sure if they will go with Roughead, Cordy and Minson, probably have to play Cordy permanently forward and Roughy mostly in defence if that’s to happen. Maybe Howard or Smith over Cordy? It’s a tricky one.

Nothing over the top

Out: Vezpremi (injured), Skinner
In: Addison, Grant

Give Wood and Howard some time in the VFL, integrate them back into the squad when they are match fit.

I don't actually think we will win but we'd be looking good if we did - Brisbane and Power at home are our next two after the bye

Out: Skinner, Vez, Sherman i don't want to see him play again
In: Addo, Ayce, Grant
Very harsh... hope granny doesn't read that!

Sherman has his faults, but will be useful. Though it wouldn't surprise to see him named the sub this week.

Wood should play well for Williamstown this week before returning to the seniors, same for Howard. Not sure about playing both Ayce and Roughy; they need to kick goals because 3 ruckmen seems a crowd.

Could i please ask for an opinion and i don't know if anyone does really know but more than anything id like to try and at least understand it. Tom Hill, he is a natural FF with a lot of talent, now i haven't been down to many Willy games but i know this kid can play. Why does or does anyone know why in our struggle for finding a FF or at least a forward who can kick goals why do we not try this kid out?

A few of us would like to know the answer to this question.

I think it has got something to do with the fact that Minson, Jones, Roughead and Cordy are all seen as being ahead of the likes of Hill, Panos, Campbell and Redpath at the moment, in terms of seniority, form, potential or whatever.

Fitting even these 4 into the one side has been a struggle so far: MC has usually found a way to give one of Jones, Roughy or Cordy a rest so we have seldom had all four in at once.

This has left very little opportunity for Hill. He might need to kick a few bags of 5 or 6 to overtake any of the above. My own view is that MC should say "it's time we stopped dicking these guys around and gave one of them a decent shot at the one position for say 4-5 weeks to see if he can make a real go of it". As you would have noticed, none of them have been a screaming success yet, although all of them show promise. What concerns me is the lack of continuity they get.

Perhaps they could even say to Roughy or Cordy, "look we are going to give Tom Hill a run for the next 3 weeks so you will need to spend that time at Willi. You have done nothing wrong, it's just for the sake of team development."

I doubt they will do anything like that just yet, especially as Hill is short of a gallop after the VFL bye and has been playing in the ruck anyway. Maybe we can hope it will happen after the AFL bye?

Yeah true. i agree with all that, but you goat admit the boy can play and i reckon he will be in our 22 obviously later on but he will make it

don,t worry werewolf some people can,t help being themselves where footy is concerned they seewhat they believe:p

Raining a bit up here right now and will be raining for much of the week including Sunday, according to the Bureau.

Given what the club and Longmire have said so far this week, I would expect Mumford, Spangher, Armstrong coming in for Johnson (elbow), LRT (heel), Walsh (dropped).

Mumford has come out and said he is ready but it's not confirmed he will play. Has been training and will train for the rest of the week so he is definitely a good chance. Pyke will stay in if Mumford plays though I would expect in order to ease Mummy back into his duties.

Spangher is loved by the coaches and provided a great option for us as a tall forward last year at the end of the year and in the finals. Not a world beater, but will give a contest better than any other tall forward we have aside from Sam Reid.

Armstrong has been playing really well in the 2's and deserves a go and from the sounds of it, he will probably for Alex Johnson who has been looking pretty sore recently and hurt his elbow against the Saints over the weekend.
