This is the first week I've brought in Ablett and have had a locked captain, this has turned out to be my worst decision all year by far and not picking him from the start has cost me countless points as my captaincy average is disgusting at around 94... yes very unlucky choices despite good records and reasons.

I really don't care what god scores TBH because I know everyone else has him in his team and he is virtually irrelevant, see D.Cox in the ruck.

Although I don't agree with perma-captaining someone as I reckon it takes the fun and spirit out of the game I'm only doing it because not doing it has contributed to a lousy overall ranking and countless league losses.

Hopefully this move will finally prevent the nufs in my leagues from having an advantage over me every single week just because I didn't have one player and made one stupid mistake, which was really becoming 2 players and 2 silly mistakes due to the nature of this perma-captain business.

Would anyone else besides me prefer a change to the captaincy option such as perhaps you can only select a player a certain amount of times during the year? It would definitely make the game more skill based rather than luck orientated which I guess is kind of what everyone wants, at least the good players.

Fixture analysis and ensuring that you have a genuine range of decent captaincy options from the start of the year would definitely reward the people who did more yards in the pre-season, as opposed to the people who read the HS newspaper a few days before lock-out.

Not to mention it would benefit all the hard-working people such as the good man Marcus who continually sift through all the good captaincy options' past averages week-in week-out to give us quality advice.

But I guess this could become redundant by too many people using YSCC/FF/BF/Too Serious/DTTalk/Footy tragic the list goes, pity that not too many people who play DT/SC know about these wonderful sites and I do. :D

+1 (Y)

Definitely agree with that. I just reached 38th overall without having Ablett at all this year but now have to get him because of the perma-captaining. The reason I couldnt get him/didnt want him pre-season was because I had identified Judd, Selwood and Dal Santo as three key players of 09, and to get Ablett I would have to sacrifice one of these players, which i definitely wouldn't budge on. As it has turned out these 3 have flourished but for no reward because of everyone having Ablett and captaining him which virtually counteracted their extra points and then some.

I can't afford ablett this week but have set up the appropriate funds to invest next round. I just hope for my sake he goes down as that would really put me in the box seat due to the trades people have wasted and would waste getting him out, then getting him in, then getting him out.

Wash your mouth out with soap.

Wishing injury upon the number 1 player in the game because you don't have him in your team - hmmm - not good karma.

i have ablett. and am thinking along the lines of maybe not having him as skipper..

cox against vickery and graham should tear them a new one like no tomorrow. is it worth it? or am i just getting too cute, because crowley isn't playing for freo still because of injury?

cox or ablett?

Captain-Ablett or Cox

I know think Ablett is the obvious standout choice for captain each week but this week I think it might be good to take a gamble on putting Dean Cox as captain. He scored 140 against Richmond last year in a 72 point loss and this year West Coast should beat Richmond giving Cox a good chance of getting a big score. Also Troy Simmonds is out so Cox is up against Angus Graham and Tyrone Vickery meaning that Cox has a good chance of dominating and with Nic Natanui in support Cox might take his rests at Full Forward where he could really dominate overhead against Kelvin Moore. Being up against these type of Ruckmen Cox could get around 40 hitouts which will go well with all of the possessions he gets. Cox also showed that he is back in form with 30 possessions, 30 hitouts and a goal against Geelong!

Supercoach Ranking- 217

GAJ hasnt scored to well against freo in the past, maybe Cox is the better option, or the smokie if ur vsing someone who will lock in GAJ
