One of my trades is definitely:
Polec > Shenton (on the bench)

I think I'll be following suite, want to get Jaensch back in my team but I need the cash to do so.

Currently looking at:

Polec > Shenton
Dunstan > Jaensch via Langdon DPP. Does mean that I'll need to play one of Landgon or Hallahan but I gain some flexibility in my side. Trouble is, my forwards also need some attention but without the cash it's tough for me to do anything much of use.

Thinking Langford > Bews - Polec > Barlow

Traded him to K Simmo so no regret from me.

I got Mcveigh but would have used the trade differently (A sideways trade for me) and would have had a stronger team because of it

A few things have gone awry and i find myself 4 paces of a "completed side"

I have two rookies in the midfield, and a sub-par premium in both forward and defence.

The aim of the game is to get the biggest guns into my midfield as quickly as possible. It would take a while to upgrade my rookies to Premiums straigh tup, so i've done some maneuvering to make the jump a bit easier.

This weeks trades are

Nathan Jones - Barlow
Nick Robertson - Shenton

This leaves me in the prime position of having a midfield of six UBER premiums Gary, Beams, Pendles, Stevie J, Joey, Barlow, and two DPP players.

Which should allow me over the next week to switch those DPP players into their other positions and upgrade my two sub premiums in the back and forward lines.

So hopefully within 2 weeks time from now i will have a team that looks like

Simpson, Bartel, Swallow
McVeigh, Hibberd, Langford

Gary, Pendles, Beams, Stevie
Joey, Barlow, Rocky, (other premium)

Jacobs, Sandi

Parker, Dusty, Roo
Boomer, Zorko, Shenton

Then upgrade Langford - Jaensch/Mitchell after that
Then upgrade Shenton - Dangerfield/Dalhuas after that.

From there its luxury trades liek Zorko/Roo/Sandi to take care of

Sideways trading is usually a bad idea unless it's A) a long term injury you're low on cash or B) dud/maxed rook > rook that's going to make cash. In the case of trading Jaensch you'd be much better off upgrading to the best player available once off, instead of sideways trade then another sideways down the track. My strategy is each upgrade has to be to the best possible player in that position I can afford (taking BE's and upcoming games into account ofcourse). Sometimes you have to make a sacrifice elsewhere to get that bigger gun, but that's how your team is stronger in the long run. With the exception of Brad Ebert who's screwed me, this strategy has payed off for me... weakest player is Tex now and all i have to really worry about is filling my bench with guns now and getting Stevie who'll be cheap as chips soon anyway.

A) a long term injury

Over the byes!! Not a player to keep at that time.

I am doing alright. Im ranked high (270), 13,241,469 team value (with extra cash) and my bench players are:

Langdon, Cutler, Langford, Shenton, D.Currie, T.Derrix, Tex Walker & C.Cameron.......The rest of my team are premos except for Tyson (115 3 round average), Suckling (low priority D6 trade) & Cotchin (will get rid of him next week).

Thats plenty of cash on the pine for downgrades.

Just a trade that Jaensch F'd me over with

Looking at Polec -> J.P.Kennedy and Langdon -> T.Walker at the moment. All depends on whether Sauce Jacobs pulls up with that hip injury well. Even if he looks like just missing this week I'll still execute these trades and play Derickx for a week. Leaves my team looking like below. Only further plans are to probably move on Cotchin, Hooker, Tex and Docherty for premiums at this stage, ideally SJ, Simpson, Parker and Bartel replacing those 4.

How much cash do you have?

Langdon > Walker is a little bit sideways. It leaves you needing to upgrade walker, cotchin, docherty. (Hooker and riewoldt havnt looked that consistent recently wither)

He will beat his BE but he is v'ing Freo this week, im tempted to put him on the pine in my team, which i think i will.

If I had what you have I'd be looking at getting Kennedy in for Polec. Could also do Bird or McGlynn for Riewoldt but I'd see what Riewoldt does this week. Liberatore is also doing well with 5 consecutive +100s but WB play Collingwood and Collingwood has been a graveyard for premium midfielders.

Good team you have in place there, $900,0000 more than mine and more players who are likely to have big scores. Although I was lucky last week as most of my players did well(except Polec) and I scored 2190. I've still got a bit of work to do but I should be able to have a 2250 average team in about 3 weeks. I see you've already got Ebert, I should be able to get him soon as his BE this week is 131. Although Port are playing at AO and Eberts' average at that ground is 127.

Fair point. It's a tough call. Other option is to bring in Zac O'Brien for Langdon.

Before trades I have $128k in the bank.

Other options I have considered are Langdon -> O'Brien, Polec -> Kennedy which leaves me with $197k in the bank. Or Polec -> Parker as well with leaves me with $256k in the bank.

I have kennedy and parker. I traded polec this week for shenton. he was on my pine on the weekend so i was lucky. Shenton will be to.

who would be playing in the forward line/mids with both those trades, eg...

parker + [INSERT]

JPK is awesome but i can't go past my boy Barlow with his run coming up! My only regret is Ebert.. been a port bloke yourself do you have any explanation for him dishing up that utter crap? He better smash it this week or he's gone for Stevie or JPK next week. If i had traded Polec > Barlow last week OR Ebert didn't f*** me I would have scored a little over 2400.

Forgot about Barlow, he absolutely caned fantasy in the run home last year. As to Ebert, I can't see him losing form, for some reason we have never done all that well in the NT. None of the midfielders really set it alight, even the better ones from both sides were only adequate. Might think about changing my choice to Barlow. Would give me more change to play around with next week.

It seems Ebert doesn't like to travel much.. grr. That 62 in round 7 was at Manuka. Atleast you guys got a good stretch of home games coming up so I might hold him. Anyway you can't go wrong with Barlow. IMO the best midfield (highest averaging) for the rest of the season will be:
Ablett, Rockliff, Stevie J, Beams, Barlow, JPK, Pendelbury, Jelwood. The next 2 would be Swan/Jobe. If all goes well this will be my midfield next 2 weeks (depending on Ebert) but i'd love to have that midfield right now!!

Tough choice. I think both will be top 6/8 depending on position for the season. JK3 has an amazing 5 round average of 124 (second only to rocky) so he is in form. Parker has a 5 round 111 average which would be the best forward.

Both have the same BE.

I reckon you wont loose with either as parker is a slightly lower average but the best forward in the comp by far in dt. go with your gut instinct.

i have eddie betts is it ok to trade up to Parker from the Sydney Swans or is there someone better. Any Thoughts please

Hrm trying to prioritize stuff.
$70k bank.
(Swan is meant to be on the field obviously)

Langdon -> Zach O'Brien
Cotchin -> ?

Thinking Rockliff is must have ASAP. If I grab him it leaves me with $215k for next week. He seems so expensive :( don't think I can do without him though.

Barlow and SJ are probably next while their prices are low.

Next week -

Trade out S.Lloyd -> DPP Dahlhaus from mid to fwd/move Walker to F7 -> Grab Barlow. (will probably need to use the other trade for cashing in a rookie)

The week after -

Under-performing mid -> SJ.

After that will be looking closely at JPK to replace a mid, Bartel for worst scoring defender, Riewoldt, Chapman etc.

Doubt it will go to plan :thumbsu:

Does anyone have any other ideas or things I've missed? Some fresh thinking is always handy. - if I end up winning the cash and someone's given me good advice that I follow, I'll buy them a carton of beer ;)

Hey guys, wondering if I could get some trade advice here? I have 6 maxed out/almost maxed out cows (KK, Langdon, McRae, Polec, Derickx, Fasolo) and just under 350k in the bank so probably have enough $ to make 3 upgrades, unfortunately only 2 trades...not sure which 2 to upgrade and to who would be most beneficial to my teams scoring this week?

Go Rocky this week it will be worth it. Wish I could get him. :(

As I mentioned in my post I have 350k in the bank. I could do KK>Simpson/Bartel & Polec>Rockliff and still have 60k left over. Just not sure if they are the 2 best trades I can do this week.

Why do you think Barlow is the best mid premo to bring when there are so many others who are averaging a lot more than him?
