Also a bit non plussed over media saying ‘is this the blueprint to beat hawthorn’

What is that exactly? Lose every stat but hope the hawks kick for goal badly?

Take heart hawks handled the doggies midfield most of the night, one which most media jizz over usually
It was our attitude that lost us the game last night.

Nothing else.

Standing up for yourself and your teammates, no. But something like him just fist pumping the Bulldogs goal for a laugh and probably focusing more on having a fraca than playing the game, yeah you want your teammate to settle down a bit.

But the biggest problem is how it's being umpired. You can pick out plenty of frees that were going on.

Hawks show a little composure kicking inside f50 and kick goals on the rare occasion ‘bombing it in’ works all that is not discussed at all

Despite Meek missing those easy set shots, Meek still brings more to the table than Reeves. Going forward it should be Meek with Chol as the second ruck. Bring in an extra midfielder into the team.

I think Butler would be the one to bring more speed around the ball and up in the forward half. He just needs to work on his game and consistency.

Yep I do 100 percent. I think for the money therye being payed I think they can put up with being called a weak c.
This is possibly the dumbest argument I’ve ever heard.

I assume that you think that if I come into your place of work, I could call you a weak campaigner too depending on what you’re paid?

Yeah, unfortunately big problem at the moment is how tacticly teams are setting up against us now. Flooding the corridor and the backline to stop our run and carry. Seemed like everytime ya look up, it was 10 on 3. Been happening for a while now.

Way back v Collingwood at the G Danny chick kicks a goal and runs along .the fence hi giving hawk fans hi fives but next in line a little old Collingwood lady swings an umbrella at him and he slips on his arse.

Piss funny and it goas with the territory when you engage over the fence

I’m also reminded more recently opposition fans asking for selfies with the wizard after games

Get Sicily and Weddle to run a few long bombs at goal especially when we are confident we can lock in the potential kick ins

We really need to sort out our goal kicking, this is our biggest weakness right now and it flows into every other element of our game. We do so much hard work up the field but we just fail to put that pressure on the scoreboard and it saps confidence.

I had a quick glance at the stats and we are on the bottom 3rd in accuracy based on goals/behinds but I think if we included complete misses we'd fall further. The rest of these teams are in the bottom half of the ladder which I think is a telling sign as these teams have had far less shots on goal and are often forced to score from tougher kicks.

I thought Chol was great last night, he stood up when we needed him and worked hard to be an imposing figure. We would have killed to have Barrass put there just to take a few intercepts, one thing we struggled to do late in the game.

Hopefully Lewis pulls up okay, has been important for us this year and deserves a clean run at it. The bye has probably come at a good time for him.

Bmac was solid in defense, Nuke was huge and Daysy is growing nicely.

Its a tough game to nitpick because we really kicked ourself out of it. It's incredibly hard to keep pressure on a team when you don't punish them on the scoreboard and when they can barely miss it's demoralising.

You’re reminded of something that happened 25 years ago and you think that it’s still acceptable now…. Bloody hell.

But this is a dumb counter argument. It's not a normal job like you or me would have. These guys are athletes on ridiculous amounts of money. That opens them up to being scrutinized and yes heckled by the crowd. That comes included with the ridiculous amount they're payed.
My oath it's not nice but it's not a nice game, and it's not a normal workplace. A weak c isn't a personal attack either it's not aimed at he's personal life or he's family or any of that.

That's what being a superstar athlete is you get heckled, and yeah for 350k plus bonuses wouldn't care if I got called that. My old 2ic dead set would get called worse than that every morning by the company owner.

The only article I could bring myself to read started by praising the Dogs resilience but then said 'of course we wouldn't be talking about a Bulldogs comeback if the Hawks had kicked straight'.

Just about the most frustrating loss since 2012 given a guaranteed top 4 spot was at stake and how dominant we were.

Any team playing without their first choice full forward and first choice full back will struggle when opponents get a run on.

Just disappointed. We threw that away.

Love Ginni but thought he was the difference with us winning by 40 points and losing. His kicking inside 50 normally is our best and was average last night. A couple of times he went for goal and should have passed. Tough on him but that was the ball game. Umps in the 3rd qtr killed us too
I honestly think it's because the amount he's being asked to run in the game, this has removed all the power from he's legs. He's racking up so much KMS, by the time he's got the ball, he's got so much lactic acid in he's legs they're just cooked with no power.
When he was at Collingwood from what I remember he would always have pot shots at goal from just inside 50 and easily make the distance.

They’re talking about the fact that opposition sides revert to flooding our forward line and then belting us in transition - it’s happened nearly every week since the Collingwood game

It’s the reason our accuracy is so bad- can’t get easy shots close to goal because it’s so congested. I’ve noticed it then gets to the point where missing becomes so contagious amongst the team we start feeling the pressure and shanking the easy ones…

There is no amount of “territory” that allows someone to call a complete stranger a weak campaigner over the fence, and no reality where doing that directly to another person is not a personal attack.

The idea that players should just deal with it or that it’s standard behavior because they play professional sport is real backwards thinking.

Your take that he has no right to be annoyed at being called a weak campaigner over the fence by some random stranger is just completely broken.

Some of the melts in here are incredible, calling players immature whilst crying liked a tired 3 year old, claiming you were ‘abused’ on this board for having an opinion contested, saying x player should never play again. To the majority of folks in this thread, grow teh fook up, you’re embarrassing. If you can’t act like an adult then give your phone to your mum and go play in the back yard. How some of you are gainfully employed is mind boggling.

On the game - bad kicking is bad footy, we’ve been inaccurate all year and now it has cost us, a learning experience. Need to work a plan for the flood. Need to keep Watson in the game in second halves.

Also, c’mon north, do it for old Jim.

How were we shanking easy shots if we couldn't get any easy shots? Bevo himself said we should have won. I take your general point but on this occasion we just fluffed our lines, pure and simple.

How much can we grow as a team between now and round 24? Because we’re going to need a lot of growth and maturing to occur if we are a shot at winning this thing this year.

Just a really immature performance last night.

I think the difference between our best and worst is significant.

The leadership needs to lift across the board experienced players loosing their cool.

Gunston and Barasss are huge out at either end, very experienced and often direct the traffic. Once Daisy playing full games he will assist in the middle.

Lot's of growth in this side still to come.

Go back to the Freo match we controlled that game and let it slip. Last night we should have won but we lacked the killer instinct to close it out.

got abused for my thoughts that we lost it at selection, but we absolutely did and now we can kiss top 2 away and have to find a way to beat Freo and or Sydney to get any further than last year. To cute, too soft at selection.
Did we select a team we knew would kick 1.11 in a half?

I don’t get it.

We dominated almost every key stat. Basically even at centre clearance.

Did anyone notice Sicily celebrating a dogs goal, mocking Lewis?

His head just wasn’t in the game.

That performance by Lewis to completely rattle Sicily won them the game.
Yep, it's not just about the optics, it's a practical issue having a captain who loses their focus like that. And last night he did, A LOT. Sicily's playing performance wasn't bad when he had his mind on that but he spent far too much time acting like a complete idiot, getting riled up exactly the way Dogs wanted him to. Crucially, when it was clear we were no longer dominating, he was an absent captain; instead of doing his best to ensure the team kept mentally tough and focussed, he was completely ridiculous, expending far too much energy on stuff that had nothing to do with winning that game. If it was any other player, we'd think they'd flipped, be worried for their mental health. The contrast to Newk's approach as captain was stark. Funny thing is, I'm a fan of Sicily, he's a magnificent player and not dumb as a human being, but when he sees red and loses the plot the team isn't his top priority.

Yea it is high risk high reward with Ginny. He is a star but he shouldn't have to play that role every week.

B.Dale got ahold of us i thought one of the half-forwards should have addressed this.

We didn't need Weddle back unless they played either Lobb or Croft there and that only happened occasionally. Battle had Naughton under control (Until that last goal which Battle would have been shattered by as he was the master most of the night). Should have been moved alot earlier, 3 quarter time I would have made the move not with 10 minutes to go.
