Lingy was definitely in the "Pies should test him out" camp.
I’m glad our boys didn’t tbh. Could have turned what already sounds like a pretty horrific set of injuries in to something potentially life threatening.

So anyone reckon Beau’s kick to Frampton was deliberate? I thought not as it happened but the slow mo ground level replay made me think twice. Hope he claims it😀
Right in front of me… definitely intended. Was surprised how under sold it was by the commentators when watching the highlights.

Very happy with the win
They have become extremely unlike able of recent years
So happy for Freddy jagging a few

Terrible news about trac and even worse form by the club for not protecting the player from himself.

Hope that Christian Petracca has a speedy recovery and I feel for him and his family who obviously do not like seeing their son hurt like that with what looks like a serious injury.
I am also so glad the Collingwood players did not target him when he was back on the ground, despite what some of the Fox commentators were suggesting the pies players do.
Yes I agree about the commentators... I watched the replay when I got home & was disturbed by how much the commentators wanted our players to target him.

If they had, can you imagine the collective outrage from them today, particularly now knowing the full extent of his injuries.

Imagine the endless whinging from the dee fans if we had.

It was wreckless leaving him.out. The guy could barely move. Try it sure but after 25 metres you could see he wasn't right.
Looked innocuous. Seen plenty bounce back but was wide open and just copped it in a horrible spot

If a guy as tough as Petracca is in as much visible pain & discomfort as he was in..it's staggering they put him back out there.

He was as a white as a ghost when they put him back on.

It was awful. The bloke played on with a fractured leg a year or so ago. Surely you've got to know he's got awesome pain tolerance. With the way he reacted, it was obvious that was something pretty bad - more than broken ribs - and surely you wouldn't leave him on with broken ribs anyway.
Watched him closely as it was just in front of us. He was in a world of hurt. Once he got up he went back down pretty quickly for a spew. Should have been the end of him. I was shocked to see him back out there and was looking to see the sub as soon as the 2nd quarter started. Credit to him for trying to soldier on but there is brave and there is silly. (Whether thats his call or the medical staff) I hope he recovers well and doesn't miss too much footy

They sent him back out with 4 broken ribs, lacerated spleen and bruised lings. Typical Melbourne putting the club ahead of the players

See, id be more of the sneaky/rat type player.

Dont target him if he is playing no good to ensure he stays out longer ie effectively one man down.

If he plays half decent.... target him.

Its a Ballarat thing
Bit like the bloke who is 20 not out at tea after 40 overs. For christs sake, don't get him out.

I'm sure he had some say in that to be fair.

One thing that I find annoying is where players stand when there is a mark or free kick awarded to opposing team.

I often see them going back at least 3-5 metres to where the incident occurred so then they under the stand rule and can't move forward like the old days.

Sometimes umpires even order them back when in fact it wasn't where the incident occurred.

The stand rule is a load of crap.
Like in the GF last year when Leggy was penalised for moving backwards, which shouldn't matter.
Most of the time a player is "standing" and the opposition player just runs around him.
Just pay a 50 if the player on the mark moves forward of it.

Whilst we hate it when players get called on the rule, I reckon its effect is a net gain. Promotes faster ball movement by allowing the kicker to run around the man on the mark. It's a good rule.

Tweak I'd make is the kicker needs to start from the 'kicking over the mark' position, not the position he ends up after a mark or free kick, particularly as the man on the mark is either 5 meters back or bolted to the turf. This still, fairly, advantages the side with the ball.
Of course, if play is continuous, then go for your life.

I don't rate Melbourne as a quality side. That is the first point that I disagree with. People will tell you they are a quality side based on efforts in seasons past. But not on this season.
They’ve been perfectly fine up until the past two matches where they have spectacularly fallen from top four to tenth. I’m not buying that Melbourne is not a quality side. Collingwood isn’t supposed to be quality either given the personnel missing.
