Terrific game of footy. I think we now know both these teams are the real deal, and it could've gone either way. I'm so happy we ended up on the right side as I wouldn't be able to watch the Buddy highlights reel without that sick feeling in my stomach knowing we had ultimately lost.

Glossing over the stats what do we make of them dominating the CP and Clearances.

It shows Port threw absolutely everything at us. There's no glossing over that they beat us in those areas but it gives us a great opportunity to put more work into guys like Gray, Ebert, Wines et al. for next time.

We ended up on top through that little bit of extra class from Goodes early and Buddy later on, and the ability to tackle and pressure them to make mistakes.

Congratulations on the win, a great game.

The umpiring was shocking though on both sides and that isn't the reason we lost, it was the ball handling under pressure that did us in the end. The pressure you guys applied was awesome to watch and something we really needed. Looking forward to the return match AO. Hopefully you will have Tippett back and I will be looking forward to another excellent game

Distinct lack of a quality ruck and McBabe

maybe a bit harsh as Lobbe played real well but there were so many taps to Port hands I was going nuts at centre bounces.

Yeah exactly what i was thinking.. Gray (40) and Ebert (35) their two best mids verses Kennedy (20) and Hannerbery (13)

Plus tippett mcglynn pyke

DTrain's last two weeks haven't been his best endeavours.
Time for Pyke.

But stats - who cares. e.g. 2012 GF

Swans will learn a lot from that and so will Port. Thing the Swans have another gear in big matches and Port have half a gear. both teams will go deep into September.

Yer thats the strange thing we have so much upside, Port pressure was great but honestly some of our kicking was woeful at times, and we missed so many chances which i thought might come back to haunt us.

Was going to post on the main board but just couldn't keep reading what these @@@@ hawk supporters are going on about, they need help....Great win and full credit to port, I didn't really rate them before today but they are the real deal. Buddy worth every cent! GO BLOODS!!!

It was just a good game in the end

Mistake city at times but pressure does that

I am pretty confident that we can account for you guys at the Portress next time we play. If you have not been to the redeveloped Adelaide Oval try and get across. The noise level is off the scale and the facilities are world class. Well done to the Swans on today's result we have no excuses and we had our chances but blew it.

An interesting part of the game was ports decision at boundary throws and around the ground for lobbe to engage in a wrestle with derricks with a view to having a third man up to tap the ball into space.

They did that really well which negated derickx strengths around the ground

Just as an aside how easy is it to get tickets ?

Well done guys.

It was a fierce contest today and I think it's fair to say both sides should go deep in September. A lot of our players skills were down due to the pressure and also off days but that happens to every side.

Looking forward to a big game next time.

We have just seen the blue print that every team will now adopt to try to beat us.
Get the ball away from the mids (especially Kennedy) and you have a hope.
With a ruckman, any ruckman, one that actually rucks, there is not a team that will beat us this year.
I would like to see the stats from turnovers, at least half of their score came from our own mind boggling errors.

What an amazing game. Credit to a near full strength Port (only out Polec), they kept coming.

Agree with earlier posts, we have a lot more upside with Tippett, Pyke and McGlynn to come in for B. Jack (not up to it yet), Derickx and Rohan. Hopefully Mitchell gets over his ankle asap.

The first of many just unbelievable, vintage Buddy performances for us.
