Yep basically agree with these. Coniglio back in form for them and Hogan votes. Does this mean Moore smashed again?
Moore wasn’t on Hogan for the majority of the game from what I could see. So no. Sorry to ruin your day, I know how much you love digging the boots in to Moore.

I know someone who was born in australia and registered as an american and has travelled with two passports since they could travel indpendently. The only problem for Mason which he probably knows already is the the US tax people chase his money even if he earns it in australia

There's no tax treaty with the USA?

I remembered Murdock had to renounce his citizenship so I assumed every one would be the same.

It has happened before…
It has been obvious that the AFL make things up as they go along otherwise why would they be changing the rules or the interpretation of the rules all the time they just cannot be trusted.

well lets say the IRS came hard for their share ... they were getting aussie banks to contact americans who the IRS knew were making money overseas. It calmed down a little but dual citizens were threatening to renounce their us citizenship to get the IRS off their backs. Some of them had lived in aust for decades. Its like the roman empire. If you're a roman citizen you need to file your taxes in Rome...even if you're living in the provinces

Wearmouth see gerryg400 post included above.

I think the actual intent of the rule gets lost. It was brought in for players taking longer than 30 seconds to take a shot on goal. There was never an issue with players using 6 to 10 seconds with a shot closer to goal.

Sidebottom should not be punished due to having a simpler set shot routine.

That was due to Australia not allowing its citizens to hold dual citizenship at the time - law changed only relatively recently, in the early 2000s under John Howard from recollection. USA has allowed dual for a long, long time so it was due to Aus law that Murdoch gave it up because he wanted US citizenship.

Was he punished?

I think there was a bit of swapping going on but I thought Murphy was good.
No there wasnt. You’re so transparent. Happy to hang shit on Moore when you thought he was on Hogan, then say that you thought Murphy was good when you were told he was the one on Hogan.

Murphy was good, but you’re full of crap.

It has happened before…

He was called to play on after he had taken more than his allotted time to take a shot. Different to Sidey. Where the umpire wanted him to take his shot without getting 30sec as he deemed it unnecessary. That’s the problem. The umpire deciding instead of allowing the same as every other shot at goal.

My American mate worked as a teacher here since the 70's and still works when in Australia each year, returning to the USA for their summer. He has never had to pay tax in America during this time.

Sidey took 19 seconds off the game clock. The ump gave him 10 seconds before a whistle and command to kick. 8 seconds later called play on. Sidey kicked then. By the time the clock stopped it had run for 23 seconds.

Not sure how the umpire can have overstepped if as he said that’s how he’s directed to adjudicate. Has there been anything from the AFL saying it was wrong?
Well… an article from 2017 I saw seems to support what you’re saying and there is no absolute rule re: 30 seconds for the shot clock.

So I thank you for the clarification.

Also though it’s implied that you have 30 seconds by the very nature of the clock being there so maybe they could make it more clear?

I was unable to attend the game so don't have the benefit of seeing the clock on scoreboard.

The clock must have started ticking as soon as umpire awarded 50m.

The umpire took his time to place the GWS player on the mark.

Sidey then had about 6 to 8 seconds to have his shot on goal.

The last line in the article…
”AFL football operations manager Simon Lethlean confirmed umpires will have the power to call 'play on' if a player is clearly seeking to delay the resumption of play by running the clock down”
