Brownlow Medallist
Shapes as an important round with 3rd playing 4th and WP, just around the top 4 as well playing Subi. We also have souths and claremont celebrating the first indigenous player to play league footy back in 1901, to kick off NAIDOC week celebrations.
Perth v Swans - is a crucial match because Swans will want to keep in touch with the top 2 and Perth will want to gain ground on Swans and also keep in touch with the top 2. The Young brothers, Siekerka, K-T will all need to be watched as will young Selwood, who's been in pretty good form of late, despite being knocked out a couple of times. Swans have a mounting injury list with Ames, Beros and Robinson listed to miss with Pratt and Smith set to be elevated from reserves. Will be Pratt's debut (I think) if he plays and will be about the 14th or so debutant for Swans. I think Perth are favoured to win this one, but it won't hurt as much as last week!
Souths v Claremont - looks to be a canter for the bullies but Claremont have shown they tend to lift against Souths. However, with Murphy and possibly Farmer in for the Bulldogs it looks to be heavily favoured to their advantage.
East Perth v East Freo - looks to be evenly matched this one but the Sharks look set to have a host of AFL players back in, with McManus, Spangher, Kennedy and McNamara listed to play for them. Is a significant match from the point of view of Luke Webster being named in a comeback game from his revolutionary, and some say radical, knee surgery. Best of luck to him in his comeback but I fancy the Sharks in this one.
West Perth v Subi - I think it needs to be fine for Bradley, Campbell and LeCras (Brent) to have an impact and really take the game up to subi. Having said that, their runners were fantastic last week, particularly Pearce and Chambers, so hopefully they can reproduce for the Falcons to get close in this one. Read comes back in and attention will need to be paid to Dennis-Lane and Broadhurst, who's been a bit flat over the past few weeks so expect him to come out of his shell again.
Anyway, after last weekend I am making sacrifices to the gods in the hope of a fine weekend and hoping some good footy is played and your team wins, except if you support Perth.
