We were younger than our opponents on the weekend but had played more games. This is preferable to the other way around, and indicates we are getting games into kids.

I think you are splitting hairs. There is not much difference between the two teams. We had a marginally less experienced younger bottom end.

I'd love to see Steele have a massive pre season in the gym building strength and power so he can become a burst midfielder/half forward. He's a good overhead grab and kick for goal. Let's not worry about him running out the entire game in the midfield - his career took a turn for the worse when he slimmed down.

Agree about playing steele forward, prolongs his career, gets the most out of macrae, allows us to try out the kids in the midfield. Just do it now, no need to wait until next year.

You are right to point that out and cudos to Bill for pointing that out too. Coops does have better stats, but he has fewer goals, just, than Members.

I was going on the goals kicked (20 vs 19) hence ‘marginally’ as I think that is what they are there for. But it is only a differential of one. and Coops’s kicking radar is off this year. It seems to be getting worse over the past few years. (Like Wood but better than Mitchito)

Coops has played in some terrible games with a team driving a Holden Belmont, with some hot extractors. On the other other hand Membrey plays with the Rolls Royce team.

And yet on the other hand (three handed monster this one) Coops is the big Kahuna Burger for us up there (by default) , where as Members is just a junior Burger for them.

If you can find them online, there is a video of Garcia’s clearance work (StK Insider IG) was really good, and the ability to run & carry.

Liked his game watching on Sunday, liked it that bit more after seeing that footage.

As far as even the most prestigious afl awards go, they’re really not worth much these days in terms of prestige (largely due to the farcical processes that infest the majority of the afl and its affiliates). So I’m not losing sleep over the RS.

That being said, I’m all for ‘body of work’ rising star noms, you’d think Hall would be a good candidate.

But when an 18 year old, in his second AFL game, and what 5th senior game? Has a genuine “oh that kids gonna be a star” game plus has an impact throughout the match & sets a club record and has the star dazzle then I think you’d give a rising star nom to that player over a body of work player, esp. from the perspective of AFL and what they really care about (due to profit); stars and draw power.

Have seen many oppo fans & mates, who raved about Tauru in the freo game, let alone a variety of footy media people. Nomination or not, the streets say he’s the rising star of the moment.

they should have another award of over 21 year olds with 10 games.
