OUT: Hurley, Reimers, Hocking, NLM
IN: T.Bell, Colyer, Dell'Olio, Gumby

Hardingham Fletch Carlisle
Hibberd Hooker Dempsey
Heppell Howlett Dyson
Melksham Ryder Jetta
Lonergan Hille Davey

T.Bell Watson Stanton

Bench from: Dell'Olio Colyer Myers
SUB: Gumby

Thought around the ground Hille was poor (he wasnt alone) so play him as permanent forward for a half then Sub him with Gumby

Time to swing the axe hirdy after that display

In: Gumby, Dell, Browne, Baugley, Pears, Bellchambers, Colyer, Kav

What the hell.

Personally don't think we can afford to swing the axe, we will lose Hurley, hocking most likely and riemers. With crameri still out alongside monfries and zaka we have lost a large portion of our forward line. I think gumby pretty much has to come in. The supporter in me loves that, however I believe he will struggle in his first game back being the focal point.

I'll wait a few days before making any judgments for next weeks side

Will lose Hocking in the MRP, but Im not too fussed. Hasnt been at his best for a while.. put Myers as full time mid in his spot.

Not going to commit to names until Bendigo play, but we need to fix our structure up.

As far as I'm concerned, this is our best 22:

B: Fletcher - Hooker - Hardingham
HB: Heppell - Carlisle - Hibberd
C: Stanton - Hocking - Zaharakis
HF: Monfries - Hurley - Jetta
F: Davey - Hille - Crameri
R: Ryder - Watson - Howlett
I: Myers - Dempsey - Melksham
S: Lovett-Murray

Crameri, Hurley, Hocking, Zaharakis, Monfries are unavailable.

In should be Gumbleton, Bellchambers, Lonergan/Lee, Colyer/Kavanagh, Reimers/Dell'Olio

So my changes are:

Out: Hurley, Hocking, Dyson, (Reimers), (Lonergan)
In: Gumbleton, Bellchambers, Colyer/Kavanagh, (Dell'Olio), (Lee)

Dell in if Reimers doesn't get up. Lee in if he shows anything at Bendigo, because Lonergan is starting to become a liability. NLM sub.

Hurley and Reimers injured. Possibly Hardinham too.

Hocking out suspended.

Nat Rat will have to play as tagger over the next 3-4 weeks to cover for Hocking's off the ball stupidity. Myers looked horrible in the backline and I hope the match committee has finally learnt their lesson after how well he played on the ball.

Fletch needs to play as a key back as the opposition is putting too much work into him at the moment. We also need to develop other attacking options out of the back half going forward.

I want Dyson and Heppell to start on the wings next week and play a little bit behind the ball guarding space and creating with their disposal.

Hille almost needs to be dropped after that "effort". In fact they should.

TBell number 1 ruck and Ryder as a KPF giving TBell a chop out in the ruck.

We need a Zaka replacement around the ball who has pace. Give Kav a run swapping with Jetta off a flank in that role. Also if Lonergan and Howlett are doing well around the stoppage, with Nat Rat and Myers as tagger and big bodied players in there, and Stanton running hard from clearance then Watson needs to spend more time each quarter up forward.

So for mine:

Out: Hurley Reimers Hocking Hille
In: Gumby Dell Kav TBell

Hibberd Fletch Carlisle
Hardingham Hooker Dempsey
Dyson Watson Heppell
Jetta Gumby Kavanagh
Davey Ryder Dell'Olio
TBell NLM Stanton
Myers Melksham Howlett Lonergan

Also for VFL watchers and knowers of the rules. Is Lee doing well enough to be upgraded? Can we upgrade anyone or does that rely on having less than 2 on veterans list? Hille and Fletch are on veteran's list right?

next week isnt the week for baugley, if anything it should've been for tonight to wear milne like a glove, port adelaide dont have anything that resembles a dangerous small forward.

Outs:

Whomever gets the above done.

Obviously once the Bendigo game is done we can properly speculate but anyway here goes...

In: Dell, Gumbleton, Bellchambers, Browne, Kavanagh

Out: Jetta (form), Hurley (inj), Hocking (susp), Lovett-Murray (rest), Reimers (if conc?)

People calling for Hooker to be dropped- he won't be be. Pears not up to stratch, just a shite game for Hooker.

.....Fire away with your changes predictions!

Out -> In
Gumbleton -> Hurley (inj)
Colyer -> Hocking (susp)
Dell'Olio -> Remiers (inj)
Browne -> Hardingham (inj calf?)
Bellchambers -> Hille (liability, just can't get around the ground)

I'd only be looking at forced changes. No point dropping people for one bad week.

If Pears is solid for Bendigo you may look at bringing him in and moving Carlisle forward HOWEVER Carlisle looked much better down back last night than up forward.

This is 100% the way our side needs to be selected. I rekon when we have stuck to this structure under Hird we have not lost a match, we certainly play our best football and have done things like beaten a rampant Geelong (when we were well down on personnel) and won a game at Subiaco. It is not coincidence.

Ins: Gumbleton - Pears - Kavanagh

Out: Hurley - Hocking - Reimers

I think we definitely need two marking forwards, it's the forward setup that has been effective for us all year and last night showed how we crumble with out that. This makes the Gumbleton pick a no brainer. For the second forward I think we're going to have play Carlisle as a KPF, so that means we bring in Pears to compensate for Carlisle.

Hocking will probably get four weeks, which means that even though I don't agree with it, Myers and Lonergan will both be playing on ball to compensate. With Port not having a stellar forward line, I think we can cope down back with Hooker, Pears, Hardingham, Hibberd and Fletcher as a defensive unit, allowing us to give Kavanagh a atse should he earn it today. He would come in for Reimers, who only goes out if he doesn't pull up injured. Colyer, Browne and Lee (need clarification he is able to be upgraded) could also be options here but the thought of Kavanagh is just sexier at the moment.

All dependent on Bendigo today however.

Do you think Pears could play forward? He has the right credentials: fast, strong, good overhead, set shot?

We could do worse then try Pears but we need to replace the impact of Crameri which is as much about kms covered as anything else. I don't knows that Pears is capable of it and it would be a massive role change for him. I'd much rather use him to free Carlisle now that Hurley needs to be replaced as well.

On exposed form Carlisle cannot replace Crameri (he may be a better runner than I am giving him credit for). He looks more dangerous close to goal anyway and is the natural replacement for Hurley.

There are two guys on our list who can replace the structural impact of Crameri. Monfries basically did it for the 3 years under Knights and obviously cannot do it next week; and Gumby who even less than 100% fitness in terms of match hardened miles in legs will still outrun ever key position player we have comfortably (Crameri aside).
