it's a shocker of a timeslotI’ll be watching on TV. Just too late a finish before school goes back.

I knew we would be in for a tough night just 5 minutes into the match when I seen Rowell and Anderson doing what they liked. Is it just me or does it seem like whenever we lose to a team it is because we allow their best players to dominate. Like Rowell and Anderson last night, like Danger and Cameron for the Cats etc. If we could just spend a bit of time and effort curtailing one or two oppo match winners then I believe we would NEVER lose. Food for thought!
Maybe DC against Richmond? With 6 rounds to go, I imagine the management of players will end now and increased training loads will be introduced over the next month.

He's the one without a rest, I wouldn't be against itMaybe DC against Richmond?
It's now starting 5 minutes earlier, not that it will help you much.Expect a big response against Freo. Fly not happy with that first half, and the boys will be working hard to make him happy next Sunday.
By the way, 3:20pm start the Sunday before school goes back.
FU AFL.
I want the old 2.10pm back. We have that the following week against Richmond.I’ll be watching on TV. Just too late a finish before school goes back.

No, it will be .Brownlow night will be interesting , Josh clearly the best player on the ground but wouldn't be surprised at all to see the umps give the 3 votes to their best mate Rowell
Excuses are not the way Fly and our team operate. The conditions were the same for both teams. We weren't good enough for 2.5 quarters but still came close. You manage and control what you can. We will learn from it and improve. The result was expected. Terrible conditions for football up there. No wonder they never played AFL there prior to recently. Slippery soapy conditions. Just glad there were no worse injuries there. Every game I've ever watched at that Gold Coast ground is the same horrible spectacle of dropped marks, missed kicks.. ugh
It'll never be made an excuse but the cold/flu that went through the club last week might have slowed us up a touchExcuses are not the way Fly and our team operate. I reckon this is part of why the team looked a bit flat. Whenever I've been sick with even just a cold, you can be a bit lethargic for a period even after you've shaken the cold. Flu is much worse. It'll never be made an excuse but the cold/flu that went through the club last week might have slowed us up a touch
Doesn't take much to get exposed by any club. We play that many blockbusters in front of 80k plus the boys just couldn't get the juices flowing for the 20k they served up. Id expect a different attitude this week. The last half is what we should be taking heart from. Total domination until it wasn't again unfortunately.I'm reckon this is part of why the team looked a bit flat. Gold coast looked to have more players at every contest in the first half. We just weren't running to contests.

Checkers, Hill, McReery & De Goey missing from our forward line rotations. Lippa missing from delivering it. No Billy in defence & Howe going off early. If they come across us in September at the G, we will hold no fears.Doesn't take much to get exposed by any club. Plus every time we scored a behind we gave the ball back to them.Despite the loss, which we could afford to have at this point - though not ideal;
We played a genuine finals team, away.
We played poorly and looked flat and lacking effort for the first half.
We kicked inaccurately to get to 0.10 before a goal was finally kicked halfway through the 3rd quarter. From that point on (1.5 quarters), we kicked 8 goals 5 behinds.
In the first half, we conceded 6.7. In the second half, just 4.2. From the point where we kicked our first goal, we only conceded 3.2, to our 8.5. Again, in 1.5 quarters of footy.
Lost by a single goal.
We got to see Josh put on a clinic in the guts.
A lot of positives can be drawn from this loss.
agree - the hitting 14 milestone was a bit too discussed in my opinion - don't stop there! That's just finals! Need top 4 and better yet, top 2!The boys looked to have mentally disengaged in that first half. Maybe having secured the 14 wins meant they checked out a bit.
Good to reengage in the second half, hopefully we can keep that momentum going because we have some big games to win.
The response when they were given a "reminder" at half time is reassuring to know what were capable ofagree - the hitting 14 milestone was a bit too discussed in my opinion - don't stop there! That's just finals! Need top 4 and better yet, top 2!
Anyway, massive credit to the boys they could lift when needed.
90 thousand Pies fans at a pressure packed G in a final will be something totally different for GC if they get that far. "Biggest game in their history" was mentioned around 836 times last week. We rocked up and it was the smallest crowd we've played in front of this year. Fly might have said "Don't go out there and spoil their massive occasion. Be nice"I don't know if you can blame the conditions really; it was more that it was a game that was really built up for one side as being super important, while the other side was resting players and for the first half looked like they would rather be anywhere else.
Could well be a pre finals Fly diversion, under the radar, we must respect the humanity of the global order etc tactic"Biggest game in their history" was mentioned around 836 times last week.
