That's a lot of changes, although three players will wind up being dropped by Sunday.

Good to see Tenace getting a run-out, will be interesting to see what he can do.

And should be noted that with both King and Sanderson both out, Cameron Ling should captain the side (as he's third in the on-field chain of command).

IN: Gardiner, Moloney, Tenace, Koulouriotis, D.Johnson, Callan, Mackie.

Interesting to see who plays. Mackie most likely won't but the others are all in with a shot. I'll go with Gardiner (Graham), Callan (Milburn), D Johnson (Sanderson) and Tenace (Riccardi).

I would prefer Thurley, Callan, Moloney, Tenace.

Callan should be an auto selection, on the back of outstanding performences in the VFL and as a natural replacement for Sanderson; whom he is being groomed to takeover from.

I'd expect Moloney to play, and suspect the GFC will play Gardiner to make up for Graham as the tall in the forward line.

Apart from those 3 players, it really is a toss-up as to who will take the last position if Geelong decide to only make the minimum 4 changes. Would love to see Tenace or Mackie get a run, though Tenace would be the more likely. Koula really needs a few more runs in the VFL to get him into full match fitness to run an AFL game out. Of course, Bomber may just screw all this up and play his lovechild in DJ

Question for any lurking Carlton fans:

What are the respective chances of Johnson and McCormick playing?

My fantasy footy team thanks you :)

Just remember....

Clarkey is on OUR side.

Just watch him hit cats players, not only on the chest...but on the lead out as well.

Beautifull Clarkey, you star.

Final Changes

In: Tenace, Gardiner, Moloney, Dave 'Bloody' Johnson

Out: Graham, Sanderson, Milburn, Riccardi

Happy with Tenace making his debut but not the fact that DJ will be in. How could they not include Timmy Callan. Disgraceful to say the least.

Tenace makes the cut

Sportal
Andrew Mackie and Paul Koulouriotis will have to wait for their Geelong senior debuts after being culled from Cats’ initial 25-man squad for Sunday’s match against Carlton at Optus Oval.

The pair have been named as emergencies for the match along with Tim Callan.

Charlie Gardiner, Brent Moloney, first-gamer Kane Tenace, the club's first round pick at last November's National AFL Draft, and David Johnson come into the 22 in place of injured quartet Darren Milburn, Ben Graham, Brenton Sanderson and Peter Riccardi.

The Blues have named an unchanged line-up.

yay 4 tenace!

It’s a delight to see Tenace play his first premiership season game for 2004, it will be interesting to see how much match time he actually gets, comes at a price though with the cats missing some key players in: Ricco, milburn, sando, kingy and junior but lets anticipate the cats come away with the win, they undoubtedly need it!

Geelong just need to hit targets in the 4ward line, the ball gets delivered down there in a reasonable and swift manner, just to see it abscond our attacking fifty just as quick!

GO CATZ!
:p

Catman is right.

Thompson. Apoplogies to Catman if it seemed I was having a go at him.

Blues beat catz :(

With what looked to be a promising start for the cats, geelong has suffered their 2nd loss 4 the season. To be honest I thought both sides played rather woefully but some of the kicking disposals from geelong were dismal, making carlton look a more enhanced side than what they really are. Not to mention the deplorable umpiring decisions made throughout the match, but that should be no excuse. But there were positives to come out of this match, with the rather exceptional performances of Kane Tenance, Moloney (Even though he was reported), Mooney, Lingy and a stand out performance from Kelly. We undeniably missed the 7 key players that were absent this week….but that’s just my opinion of the match….

What did everyone else think???
Does Fevola **** ne1 else off or is it just me? Lol

ahhh well GO CATS! :) :p

You think Ling played well? Considering what sort of footy he's capable of, I would say it was one of his worse performances for a while. The disposals he did get were often not as clean as usual and he was never really in the flow of the game. Tenace was impressive though, would be a good chance for a rising star nomination.

Cats are staring down the barrel of a very tough start that will most likely get worse before it gets much better, though if they play with some heart and dedication I'm sure they're capable of a better showing then today.

Bad luck Catters.

Now i think about it, ur correct, but he palted a hell of a lot better than most of the geelong side so i guess thats y i added him in as a good player hahaha!

I know, its such a tough start but we shoud have and could have beaten the saints, but knqoing geelong they could turn around and beat syd (maybe thats wishful thinkin haha)

but we didnt deserve to win after a poor performance!!! definately need heart and dedication!

Full credit to Carlton, they thoroughly outplayed us, in all facets of the game.

We were simply embarassing, changes have to be made, from the top down.

i know it was bloody embarrassin to say the least....

What do you rekon should be changed? other than the obvious..GET A BLOODY foward line???

as much as i love geelong, they freakin **** me off with their hot and cold performances!

Beating the Swans in Sydney without a full strength team will be beyond difficult, strangers things have happened though I suppose. Depending on which Richmond team shows up, I spose they could get a victory there.

Oh well, good luck next week.

Thomo is Thomo..

But I must say, the players must take the crack for this one, the kicking standard (not just at goal) was disgusting.

I'm sure some will jump to our injuries..but the fact is that we had 22 on the ground.

Kane Tenaces' Juddish burst for goal was about the only good footbal from Catters I can think of.

You really have to question your times' worth after watching that effort..

Disappointing performence by the boys today. We were simply outclassed by Carlton all over the ground.

Positive Notes

* Kane Tenace. What can I say, this kid can play. Great debut by the kid, looks right at home on the wing. That opening goal was all magic; attacked the ball, scooped it up, slammed down on the accelerator and banged it home - Judd-esque. 12 disposals and a goal isn't a bad return from the kiddo. Round 2 Rising Star nominee ;) .

* Brent Moloney. Great performence by Tweak, especially early on in the match where he dominated the centre in the first quarter. His hard running, pack crashing and long kicking was a feature. Apart from his report, was one of the very few who could hold their head high.

* James Kelly's return to form. J.Kel was by far our best player today, and it was great to see the J.Kel we all know and love. Had clean hands in packs and was competitive throughout the course of the match. Can only hope he keeps up the good form.

* Moons: Made some undisciplined mistakes and stupid acts, but contributed in every other way he could. Was dangerous when up forward, pity he couldn't pull in the marks. His aggression at the ball was good today, and I like the fact that we can still swing him forward.

* The Big H: Playfair was IMO serviceable today. Has shown quite abit in his time at CHF, in defense and in the ruck. Looks a far better prospect than McCarthy. H was good around the grounds and should really look to stamp his position in the Geelong line-up

Negatives

* McCarthy: Pathetic effort by Matt. After promising performances last season, has dropped off the radar and with every performance, seems to make it known that he cannot play AFL. Shocking kicking, highlighted by his set shot at goal from 30m out late in the game which didn't even make the distance. Deserves to be dropped and should really only be recalled when he has earnt it. H seems to the better prospect at the moment.

* Ling: First match as the 84th Captain of the GFC was not a memorable one. Started in the forward half, which I thought was good, as the last time he destroyed Carlton on the flank, gathering possessions at will and booting 4 goals in the Wiz Cup. Failed to repeat any of those type of performances today. Was quiet early in the match, and although in the end his stats were reasonable, it could be said that none of them were damaging. Got put on a rampaging Camporeale, who proceeded to drag Ling right out of the action and deep into Carlton's goalsquare, where Ling still could not quell Camporeale. Disappointing by Cameron's standards, but then again, he is just human...

* Scarlett: Had a surprisingly off day to be honest. Got beaten in marking contests by Fevola, and was subsequently removed. And although Harley did not fair much better, Matty's performence today was not what we needed. Did some stupid things that cost the team and Thompson's experiment with Matty at CHF was a failure.

* Bartel: Wasn't given alot of game time by Thompson, and didn't have alot of influence in the midfield at all. Played the later stages of the match as a tagger on Brett Johnson, and only really picked up his game as he picked up disposals off the half back flank. After promising performences in the Wiz Cup, Jimmy has yet to turn it on the past 2-3 matches, including the Wiz Cup Grand Final. Wil struggle to hold his place in the side if Sanderson and Milburn return next week.

* Gardiner: Disappointed with his performence. Was hyped up by Linger and Scarlo over the pre-season, but has yet to turn it on and show what he can do. Limited game time didn't help his cause.

* Chambers: Beginning to doubt whether we can rely on Unco to hold the ruck stocks together until Loats or King returns. H is performing better in the ruck and around the grounds to be honest. Needs to really lift if he is to be a part of the Cat's plans in the near future.

So dissapointing. It is not so much losing to carlton , just the margin and way it was done.Hate to be super negative but when i got on here tonight i found myself looking at the drafts board to see if the gurus have pegged an odvious number 1 pick yet.It looks like a long year.
