Good news, at lest Peel won't make any ground on Swans this weekend. :thumbsu: There are 2 important matches this round, Sharks v Demons and Falcons v Swans. Of course, I could always hope for an upset by East Perth, who played a cracking match last week.

Lets go straight to the game of the round, West Perth v Swans. Should again be a belter of a match with the goslings up against the more mature Falcons, who now seem to have their tail up again. Swans can't let Chambers and Pearce wield the influence they had in the last game in the rain. Bradley playing well for Freo keeps him out and eases 1 headache. No Warnock, another relief, but Kuenen showed he's a class act last week, given more time on the field. Look out for the highly rated Stephen Hill and the dynamic Wolfenden, Garlett, Yarran and Naita. I've got everything crossed that Swans can bounce back and games between these 2 teams over the past few years have been close but it will come down to which team can outrun, outlast the other and with a few more experienced bodies in the Falcons camp I lean that way, just!

East Freo v Perth - it's the chance for East Freo to leap frog Perth, or for Perth to stop the slide and dig in for another chance at the top 4 berth that was their's for most of the year. From all reports Perth played better last week and they should retain Butler, but it's at Moss Street and ask any Perth supporter how they go there (hell, everyone hates the oval don't they?). Can Siekerka, K-T, Butler, Jones, Young outrun Anthony, Green, Houlihan (if in), Dunn, Polce, Adams and co? Can Connelly and Thornton produce the goods or will McCarrey, Leslie and co be able to dominate. Would have to say the home side, just.

Claremont v Subi - who's going to stop the Subiaco juggernaut? You wouldn't think the tiges but they went alright against them last time with a vastly inexperienced side and they've got a bit more confidence now. Still, who's going to match Read, Chick, Cockie for hardness and Pickett, Horsley, Broadhurst and Keevers for hard running and skill. Then there's one B Smith to stop from the goalsquare and Claremont are fast running out of defenders because they're being called up for the eagles. On the other hand can Parker and Rumble stop Richardson? Could at least be some interest in the spearheads shootout. Should be a lions victory in a relative canter.

South Freo v East Perth. Oh dear East Perth fans, Murphy looks like he's in and he normally kicks 3-4 on a bad day. :( The only question remaining for me is can the Royals actually back a good match up with another one? They haven't been able to all year so can they on Saturday? Played well as a team last week, after being challenged by Peel early, only to blow them away. Meanwhile Souths were sunning it up in Newman, playing a toughish match against the goslings. The key to stopping Souths is to stop their run and carry, the likes of O'Keefe (my new favourite), Hams x 2, Phillips, McGrath, Siegert and Black (if in). Their half back line provides a lot of the impetus and then with Murphy seemingly straightening them up front. Noakes has been a willing worker for EP late in the season up front, aided by crumbers is the main avenue to EPs goal. Can't see the Royals getting up in this one, although I really want them to!:thumbsu:

Looks like fine weather for the weekend so let's hope your team can get a win on the board.

I am very nervous about the Swans game. The form we're in we should be able to take you, but we're so damn inconsistent and your young side could really fire. Winner takes 3rd?

Possibly second - keeps both teams chance at second alive, although not realistic certainly possible. There's been 1-2 goals between both sides in the 3 games this year so I expect another cracker. My thinking is (Swans supporters please don't yell at me) that being a young side and dropping off in the last part of the year, without being blown away yet, we're in a position where we'll either re group or capitulate. 15+ debutants and 3/4 of the team vastly inexperienced, the workload is going to take it's toll at some point. Hopefully it's not now.

Disagree.

I wish West Perth were still at Leederville oval, would make getting there so much easier. Heading up there for the match?

You betcha! My old man and 2 sons in tow!

Souths had a good win after a lack-lustre start running over the Royals to record a 5 goal win.

The Souths best quarter of footy was played in the third bagging 11 to the royals 3.

Ryan Murphy bagged 9, but I thought he got in on the party a little bit after the hard work had been done by the likes of Kris Miller and Jarrod Winter in the middle. Still it was a fantastic effort.

The other standout performer for the doggies was Nathan Phillips. Kicking 5 and having a hand in 4 or 5 others. Has a bit of an X-factor about him, does the simple things well but has the ability to pull something out that few others could.

He kept the doggies in it in the first half, exploding with murph in the third to effectively end the game and bag himself another 3.

Callum Wilson started in attack but didnt look too dangerous, his shift to the back line was also pivotal in the 3rd term avalanche.

Souths now seem to have 2nd place covered.

Good win to Souths after a spirited effort early by the Royals.

Great game of footy at Joondalup, one of the games of the year that I have seen. Credit to the Falcons, LeCras (Snr) and Longmuir were great up forward and Lasscock, Strijk and Duckworth were the instrumental ones. Lasscock was everywhere when it counted. I also thought that Bartholomew came alive in the last, I hadn't seen him much the rest of the day, but I noticed 25 when it counted. 44 for Swans would also have been one of the best for the Falcons (OK, I've got it off my chest now, but it's hard enough to win games of football without 1 of your players coughing it up directly to the opposition on the HFF 3 times in one quarter) - yes, I'm spewing! Went expecting to lose but saw it as one we let slip. Oh, I thought Keunen was pretty good as well, but I rate this fellow.

McKinlay, M was super for the Swans, as was older brother David in the clutch periods. Robinson and Twomey ran their hearts out, along with Wolfenden, Garlett, Yarran, Naita and Clancee Pearce continues to impress. Spaanders was good in the ruck when there and chased hard around the ground. Yarran, well he is just sublime when working around the ball. I hope he stays in WA.

:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu: for the game, great spectacle if you were a neutral.
