Hope the fall off isn’t because none of them have got a chance of getting picked in the seniors barring injuries
Reeves, if Meek gets injured
MacDonald and Mitchell, if Amon or Impey get injured
Mackenzie, just hasn’t been the same player since coming back from that injury earlier in the year, also not going for another mid when Day got injured was a signal his unlikely to get back in, just lost confidence
Butler, appears Breust needs to get injured
Serong and Hustwaite papers stamped
Ramsden need 2 key forwards to fall over

Morrison and Weddle are likely the next ins, for the seniors

And I doubt if anyone else is in the mix

With Box Hill and our senior teams both going into finals you’d think all players would be putting their best foot forward.

This is when as a player you want to be putting your best foot forward and kicking the door down to get into the team. Even if a player needs an injury to get into the team if they ease off now someone else will overtake them for that spot

Full Time. Casey 12.16 88 defeat Box Hill 9.11. 65.

This was our most disappointing game for the season. Just comprehensively outworked and beaten in every metric. Our midfield was destroyed. Almost doubled us in most metrics including inside 50s, clearances and tackles.

Butler was working really hard to provide an option all day. However, he didn’t use it well and lacked his usual defensive intent.

Reeves was good again. Most of our clearances came through his advantageous taps.

Serong was the pick of our defenders. Defended well and got involved in rebound. Did have some shaky moments he’d like back.

Seamus was similar to Serong.

Hustwaite was our best clearance player and applied defensive pressure. However, his opponents constantly ran off him and he couldn’t keep up.

McCabe had a solid game on the wing. We could develop him there.

Ryan had some strong moments and some poor ones. A decent game.

Scaife took 4 marks and kicked 2 goals in 5 minutes before hardly touching it.

Blanck did a good defensive job on Jefferson.

Frosty took some nice intercepts down back. We sent him forward in the last for no impact.

BMac had an average game. He tried hard but couldn’t generate run or clean rebound.

Anderson had some good moments, but was quiet overall.

Worried about Mackenzie. Didn’t impact offensively and his lack of defensive intent was noticeable. He was receiving a lot of attention from Tholstrup.

Ramsden had a poor game and (early goal aside) had no impact forward.

Hill does one or two things that makes you go ‘wow’ but he hardly touched it.

I was only able to watch the second and third quarters, but it was clear to me that our one list shortcoming is the one that's exploited and we're struggling with it.

We lack an extra two midfielders, and the loss of both Maginness and Declase is really hurting us.

We were kakked at stoppages and Hustwaite worked hard he really needed another one or two helping him.

The VFL premiership is Footscray's to lose - they are stacked and Box Hill is far to thin in the midfield. If we make the GF it would be a good effort.

It was a good season but unfortunately late on we were no good again. Totally outplayed ourworked out pressured. Our midfield is getting smashed and forwardline non existent. Defensive transition they walked through us. No upwards pressure which is a worry. Serong and Ryan played well but in our area of greatest strength.
Morrison Day Maginness Mraz Weddle is what’s missing so would push a few to Box Hill but not half a side which is what it looked like today. Can see why we are looking for multiple mids in the off-season.
Mackenzie isn’t coming on. I’ve never rated him as highly as most of our supporters, he was a low 20s possession winner in his draft year, evasive but doesn’t break lines and his weighted kicking is good but not penetrating and no left foot. People will disagree and that’s fine but I’m far from sold.
Butler is doing ok and I want to see him with another injury free preseason, hustwaite is no good on transition so has to go, Anderson is worpel 2.0 so far looks like depth not much more. So very little depth in that area. With Day unable to get on the park consistently and worpel / hustwaite gone we need 3 of the mid targets we have been linked to and/or Moore to play much greater time there.

If we're serious about going deep into finals we win this.
For some reason when I wrote this I had a feeling we weren't going to win this game. I feel like some of our players ran hot in the middle of the year and we banked some good wins, but we haven't played great footy the last few weeks even in our wins. Our midfield particularly has gone a bit cold, Hust isn't performing to the same level, Butler has not come back post injury and we all know CMac is not putting out what's expected. That has had flow on effects and Ramsden and Skaife aren't getting it done up forward.

The player who has continually played well (from a HFC perspective) is Serong, and he can't even get a look in at senior level. He must be pretty demoralised.
