It's getting exciting now, East Freo and Peel making a late surge for the top 4 while Subi's nemesis, the garlic munchers, are making a surge for a top 2 spot. It's the penultimate round where finals aspirants play each other to keep the dream alive.

Subi v East Perth - playing for nothing but pride and I can't see the Royals getting close to Subi. Too much experience and too tough at this time of the year, Subi won't want to start losing now. Only thing of interest is to see if the EP supporter that had a wrestle with Smith last time wants to go around again!

Claremont v WP - can the Tigers keep their end of season form going and avoid the wooden spoon or will West Perth keep on moving towards that top 2 spot. If they win they will replace Souths in the top 2 I believe. The tiges get Browne back for this one and we know how he can dominate at WAFL level, and Thomson, de Boer, McGinnity need to keep up their late season form and Richardson probably needs to bounce back for them to have a chance. Having said that this is the type of game I can see WP losing. However, Salecic, Pearce, Chambers, Guadagnin, Lasscock, Le Cras should have too much experience and run.

Peel v East Freo - to determine who keeps their chances of a finals berth alive. I believe Peel have really troubled the Sharks at the country oval the past couple of years. Much depends on whether Peel lose Schofield or the Sharks lose Houlihan, who's been dynamic the past few weeks. Which Sharks defender can hold Ballantyne and which Peel mid can run with Anthony? Can Kyanga deliver another super performance? Should be a cracking match with everything to play for. Sharks, just.

Match of the Round - Perth v Swans - well it will be in the colts. 2 v 1, to determine possible home advantage for the finals. But I digress - can Perth arrest their slump or can the team with the second biggest slump, pull out of it? Will the demons fire up through K-T, Siekerka, Thornton, Bossong, Butler (will he be in?) or can swannies finally nail down that finals berth? Swans remind me of the wagon train, hanging on for dear life until the cavalry arrive - the cavalry being Ryan Davis, Yarran and any other fit experienced player that might be able to get on the park for us. This is a tough one but I'm leaning towards Swans, just - tipping with my heart this week.:D

Good weather again I hope and I trust everyone has a great weekend of footy, because we only have a couple more to enjoy. Thanks, once again to Perth footy club for the gymbus!:thumbsu: Great job they have been doing there for the kids this year and my 5yo is counting down the days to the gymbus. Enjoy. :thumbsu:

Kyanga, burnt off a chasing Ballantyne.

Was scary quick.

Anthony and Bennell playing well :thumbsu:

Great win by the Sharks!!! Still in with a flicker of hope I think, but can anyone post or send a link to an updated WAFL ladder. Haven't seen one in 2 weeks.

Yep, great wins to the Swans, Sharks and Falcons - oh and Subi.

So that makes Peel out of the running for a top 4 berth and East Freo can get in if they beat WP at Joondy next week and Peel beat Swans at Basso.

The ladder now is:

Subi
West Perth
South Freo
Swans
East Freo
Peel
Perth
East Perth
Claremont

At Lathlain we saw a pulsating game of football, OK maybe I was stressing unduly?, but Swans got out to a 2/3 goal lead at quarter time and then stretched that to 5 at half time, about 5 at 3/4 time and finally won by 3, after Perth had kicked the first 3 of the last quarter to get within 2 goals.
Swans best were Lange, Roberts and a host of youngsters, like Todd Banfield (who looks a terrific player in the making), Clancee Pearce, Naita, Spaanderman. Perths best were Ransted, S Young, Siekerka, Cookey.

However, when the game mattered a couple of the AFL listed boys need to take a leaf out of young Banfield's book and learn to put their head over the ball, or in some cases just attack the ball. He is quick, courageous and reasonably skilled. Love the blood nuts style, doesn't sit back and wait for the player, or for the ball to pop out.
