Just wondering if anything has been communicated to Swans members regarding the date/time of our round 23 encounter ?

I can recall seeing somewhere a while ago that tickets for swans members went on sale last Monday (22nd July). I must be mistaken though...

I have a flight booked to Sydney early on the Saturday morning so am very eager to find out when the match is.

There is an NRL game scheduled at ANZ for Friday 30th August - Is there any chance this could change or can I be 100% confident the Hawks v Seans game will be Sat arvo or later ??

Cheers

Hey mate they definitely won't change the game to Friday as one we are contracted to play 3 games a year at ANZ and two the rugby league won't budge because the rugby league game on the Friday will attract a massive crowd as it will be 1st vs 2nd which is south Sydney vs Sydney roosters. I would also eliminate Sunday as both of us should be top four teams and should get the longer break. My guess is we will be Saturday afternoon 1.45 pm start or 4.40pm start. Definitely should know 100% no later then at the conclusion of round 19

Game on that night is Bulldogs v Panthers. Ticketek are selling tickets for it so I can't see how it could possibly change.

Found this article on sportal which has their prediction at a 4.40 Saturday game - http://www.sportal.com.au/afl/news/round-23-afl-fixture-taking-shape-242268
Sorry my bad. I was looking at the last round of the NRL forgetting a week behind us. Well bulldogs vs panthers won't attract a big crowd at all. They would be lucky to get 15,000 to that. But your right I can't see them budging. If I were you I would book a Saturday morning flight to Sydney with a Sunday morning return as there would be no guarantee you would make it to the airport in time for an evening flight if its a twilight game.

Thanks mate. My flight is for Sat morning and was booked months ago which is why I'm so concerned !

I think Hawthorn might prefer if it's the earlier Saturday game so that they can get home to Melbourne to start preparing for the finals the next week.

It really should be the Saturday night game, it's gonna be a blockbuster and should be treated as such. But I guess we should be just happy it's not at SCG and everyone will actually get tickets this time around

I saw an earlier article that Channel 7 wants the game for the Friday Night but because of the ANZ booking they are now pushing for the game to be played at 3pm on the Saturday in place of the 1.45pm timeslot so it can be shown LIVE going into the news.

We should never be happy a game is not at the SCG. Ever.

Now AFL website is reporting we are likely to get Friday night as the Bulldogs say their game can still be moved:

I guess from our point of view, a Friday night game at ANZ means the turf should be slightly less horrible than it usually is as we will play before the NRL game! Hope for a big crowd, I wonder how many Hawks fans will make the trip up as they may opt to save their money for the finals.

I
What are you going to do?
Just paid $35 to change my flight and put in a leave form at work !

Quite surpised it was only $35 as I had booked my flight with frequent flyer points. I didn't think they would let me change it at all

For an extra 10,000 people to attend a GF-quality game during the regular season, and prime the Swans for performing at ANZ for the upcoming finals? That's not something to be happy about? Additional revenue for the club from increased tickets sales? You know the club barely ever makes a profit right?

The phrase "to cut your own nose off to spite your face" comes to mind.

Actually you've raised a very good point.

Hopefully when the SCG is completed we won't have to play finals at Homebush either. Ever.

Because it's a lifeless stadium in the middle of nowhere. At least with the SCG location you can go out to dinner or grab a beer in a pub etc.
