Reckon we are going to need Gallop's defensive skills in this game.
Yes, as I posted in the post you quoted #224 I would prefer Gallop over the Big O as an in.

Ty is a massive upgrade on Henry as far as defensive pressure is concerned and from my viewing of Henry's ruck work in his 2 games back Ty would be at least just as good albeit he will have his work cut out for him v Darcy and Jackson, Fort to play 80% ruck time.

Carrying 2 rucks when neither is much chop IMO is not the best option. Much prefer we go down a different path. Cop that we will get beaten in the ruck and make sure we beat them in other areas.
Yeah. I agree completely but I don’t think the match committee does. I think they’re wedded to two rucks. We shall see tonight.

I think Sam Day by far the best 2nd ruck option we've had this year. Gets around the ground ok and is physical enough to compete.

Every game theoretically is of the same importance during the H&A season but this one is staring us straight between the eyes, as close to a must win as you can get except for knockout finals and the GF.

1- If we win top 4 is in our control and with a follow up win v the Hawks we wrap it up and quite possibly top 2 if the Swans beat the Cats.
2- Lose and top 4 almost certainly gone and top 8 could be on the line v the Hawks.

I really do think if we take care of the Dockers back2back is a dead set chance, lose and IMO we are not winning 4 knockout finals on the trot again.

Despite probably being dominated in the ruck contests by Jackson, Ty would at least have a chance to keep up with Jackson around the ground.

Fort will take them both down. He wants another flag. Our new Crackers Keating.
If our forwards get there act together, and Lester comes back in, we should win. The boys play well against a hostile crowd.

We're doing it wrong. We need to go nasty nuts at the gabba. Make the team feel unloved.

That'll get em going. .

Time will tell. I have a soft spot for Reville. I see some serious upside there.

I just love the brrruuuuuuccccceeeee chant. Worth the price of selection right there. For me.

No way - that rule only applies when you're not contending for finals, or if you're a petulant coach stuck in the past.
Whichever player increases our chances of winning a flag in the here and now, that's who plays (if fit!

I was assuming he did not fly to Perth. So it seems he did and if fit and motivated he certainly plays. Love him as a Player.

We need to win, and we need Adelaide and Sydney to win. Then if all the other R23 and R24 games go as per current betting odds (big if), we'll play an away QF v the Suns.

And if we lose against Hawthorn (but all the other R24 games go as per current odds), we finish 6th and have a home EF v Western.

In that scenario, Freo don't make the eight!

I work in an office with many Freo supporters. I need us to win this game.

I haven't spoken to a Freo supporter for years and I also need us to win this game!

Yeah funnily enough i feel like we either win both and we are a red hot chance - get Lohmann and Neale back and fear nobody

OR we lose this, lose to the hawks, and either miss the finals or lose week 1.

If we lose tonight that's 3/4 losses. That's pretty telling form.

Agree with all that except your last line, hopefully we don't rock up to Optus Stadium tonight.;)

Of all weeks I'm strangely super calm about this week's game. It's as if I believe the team has finally got to the phase they've been craving for since week 1 (2 weeks away from finals/prelim/granny) so they'll kick into gear now. Let's see if my guess work comes true.

Lions’ burning question: How big of a problem has Charlie Cameron become?

The loss of Joe Daniher from Brisbane’s forward line has been well-publicised; but they’re arguably down their two biggest names from the last half-decade, because Charlie Cameron hasn’t been anywhere near his best for a long time. The fact the Lions are performing so well without the four-time leading goalkicker and 2023 All-Australian firing is quite remarkable; from kicking 2.2 goals a game across 2022/23, he kicked 1.6 goals a game last year, and has dropped to just 1.1 goals a game in 2025. From the No.73-rated player in the AFL in 2023, he has fallen to No.241 last year and now No.254 this year. “There’d have to be concern with the Lions coaching staff with Charlie’s form, no question. He’s a senior player, he needs to lift if Brisbane are going to get back into the top four and contend,” Brisbane great Jonathan Brown said on On the Couch.

Charlie isn't a problem, he's playing the defensive small forward role Linc used to play, one that doesn't come naturally to him. There's no doubt he's down on goal confidence but he works his arse off every week, which might be why his accuracy is down. To call him a problem is just damn right insulting to him, Fages and the whole club. Without his presence and work rate we'd have way less hope keeping the ball in our forward half.

Excited to see Beecken debute, albeit as the sub. Good to see Starc back too, I was under the impression he would be another week. Doedee listed as injured, any info or likely just soreness after his first afl game back?
