Round 3 Changes v Carlton

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

OUT: Quinn, Lucas
IN: McVeigh, Houli.

I know people arent going to like the suggestion of Lucas being dropped, but he has done nothing since returning from injury last year. He looks slow and has no stamina. Send him back to the VFL for a week to get some gametime and get his confidence back. Ryder can play forward for a couple of weeks, see how he goes. He played well there today so give him another run up forward.

As for Quinn, you cant say he didnt try, but in reality, he genuinely lacks skill. He is a very long term prospect IMO and unless he learns how to kick and how to position his body in marking contests, he just isnt in our best 22.

Agreed.

Though I wouldn't say Dyson was sh!thouse, but his spot in next weeks 22 would be in doubt. Close call between him and Jetta/Houli.

Think it's unlikely Reimers will be back (might VFL it for the first week).

Another area that will have to be though about would be our forward line. This match we relied on McPhee with 3, Ryder with 2 and plenty from the midfield. Somehow I don't think it will be that easy against Carlton. In saying that, who are our forwards (tall)?

Lloyd
Lucas
Neagle
...
Williams, Danhier, Pears (part-time)

In: Mcveigh, Neagle

Out: Dyson, Quinn

I would be surprised if we drop Dyson... given the number of midfield/flank players to come back in, if he gets dropped now, it would basically be curtains on his career. My guess is that knights knows this and therefore will be willing to give him more time to build on what he has shown in the first 2 rounds. Now, whether that is a good enough reason to keep him in the team is another question.. He has clearly shown more committment at the footy this year, and I feel, given what is at stake (his career), he should get at least another opportunity

Not prepared to say who has to come in and go out, obviously if Mcveigh is fit he is the obvious inclusion for quinn.

Neagle must play i believe against Cartlon, with Jamison and Walker going down with shoulder injuries this weekend we have an opportunity to really stretch Carlton up forward. I think Jetta would also be a worthy inclusion....plays the G well.

Ins: McVeigh, Bellchambers

Outs: Quinn, Dyson

Quinn and Dyson are very easy to flick out, and I think Bellchambers should be given a chance against Carlton because he shouldn't get smashed. Also it will free up David Hille to go forward and stretch Carlton's defence for more than just a few minutes.

I'd like to see Houli back but I see no place for Jetta at the moment.

Given that Carlton only have one key forward plus maybe Waite is there enough room for all of Pears, Daniher and Fletcher ?

Mcveigh should come in for either Quinn, Myers or Dyson (in that order) although all three showed a little today.

I'd be tempted to give Leroy a run for the big occasion with maybe Daniher the unlucky one to miss out due to team balance. You need runners against Carlton.

Doubt that Reimers would be ready.

In: Hopefully McVeigh and Jetta.

Outs.: Out of Monfries, Quinn and/or Myers.

Of late we have given Carlton trouble with speed, so I am really hoping we see Jetta. Quinn is very raw and will learn a lot from that, Monfries gives us little and is horrible for a forward line balance, and Myers seems underdone and can have a run in the VFL. Is it me, or does it seem like he is 7 foot 6 when he has to bend over to the pick the ball up?

Not the biggest Dyson fan, and although he made a couple errors Im not sure he can be dropped on that performance.

We have a real problem with our forwardline structure and balance, although its a million to one Lloyd and Lucas wont both play.

Let's see who can get injured at training this week

I agree that we need to chuck Leroy in the side to exploit Carlton.

I wish Reimers was playing...I want him to crack a few Blue skulls

Neagle or Jetta in for Lucas (if he was my computer I'd restart him).
McVeigh in for......Quinn, probably.

I don't think Dyson dropped far enough from his upward curve (of improvement) to get cut just yet. If he doesn't bounce back Saturday night he'll be needing a couple of 30+ disposal games with Bendigo.

EDIT: and I looked at Reimers' game blog thing on the EFC website -- he says "probably 2 or 3 weeks" more

Smokin, I noticed that in his 2nd or 3rd game. He is also so unclean with his hands as a result he fumbles and cost us dearly today on more the 6 to 7 occasions. He was also having problems with his kicking because the teams were covering his left side. That's probably the worst game he has played so far.

Lot of positives though.

How classy is Zaka? Someone who runs as hard as Stanton but also capable of taking an over head mark with one grab and a super kick of the footy. Loved his passing to the forward line on 3 to 4 occasions.

Quinny is a delight to watch. Loved watching his few tricks. He took the game on alright. I won't drop him.

Daniher and Pears, I reckon played their best games for the club. If Huley, Pears and Daniher, if they can play them together for the rest of the year, I would be really happy. (So would Fletcher).

Ins: McVeigh and Houli
Outs: Myers and Dyson

with Jetta and Neagle given serious consideration.

Out of the mid range players, Lovett was brilliant. His pace and skills are A grade.

It doesn't help when your teammates handpass at your feet

Myers wasn't great (solid) but he didn't cost us 2 goals like Quinn with handballs straight to the opposition (who I thought was fantastic)

Tough one this week..

In: McVeigh
Out: Myers

I think thats the only one we need atm. Maybe Quinn for someone but I would like Quinn to stay in the team.

Why are people calling for Jetta to be promoted when his clearly at Bendigo to work on certain areas of his game which he is still lacking. I must say Dyson has earnt his spot for next week

Interested to see what happens at selection this week. All good to be harsh on Houli and Jetta for flaws in their game and making sure they earn their spots back but how long do they ignore Monfries and Dyson's mediocre impact on games or are they too old to learn new tricks?

No changes for mine UNLESS Remiers is declared fit, then it is Dyson out, Reimers in. I have no hesitation in playing Reimers with no pre-season in this game, as he gives us X-Facotor in spades. If he is unfit Jetta will come under consideration, but his performances for Bendigo are hardly pressing his claims.

McVeigh to come back via Bendigo then.

Houli has a better chance than Jetta

You don't want McVeigh back in the side?
