Re: Round 4 vs Fremantle Discussion

ok thanks .. if you see a wife and 2 girls beating on a large Saints supporter down that way , its most likely me , , BUT if we are flogging them it may be a different story , oh and C'ARN THE SAINTS :)

Re: Round 4 vs Fremantle Discussion

I believe Ledger is missing out completely in order to give him some playing time. Can this be? What do you guys think?

On another sidenote, I'm impressed by how much Newnes is playing. He was solid and didn't look out of place, although didn't star also. Do you think they should rest him at some point or another sooner rather than later? He's so young... I'm afraid he will get injured due to the rigors of the AFL.

he will probably get rested when gwilt comes back him.

Gwilt will probably need 2-4 weeks in the vfl

Scott Watters has called on Saints fans to provide a hostile environment for Fremantle's players, rather than coach Ross Lyon, when the teams clash on Friday night.

"I hope the fans support our players, I hope they make it a hostile environment for the Fremantle players, like any interstate side coming to Melbourne."

Re: Round 4 vs Fremantle Discussion

Word on Saintsational is that Ledger was unhappy with being the sub and trained poorly the week after. So he is being discplined.

Take with the customary grain of salt.

Re: Round 4 vs Fremantle Discussion

Doh ! I got aisle 5 Ground level on the fence , I hope Im not in the
purple haze  the kids will kill me :(

yeah, you don't wanna seat near the Freo supporters, Goddard may mistake your kids for dockers supporters.

I certainly did.

Asked him on twitter and he said the side is playing too well and it's hard to bust in, given guys like Farren and Peake are still running around for Sandy, I'll go with that.

Pretty diplomatic answer there. He was in the side though and was taken out. First for Ray, then for Polo so you can understand why he might be frustrated.

Re: Round 4 vs Fremantle Discussion

I have a secret guilty pleasure kind of wish, that we shuffle the forwards around so that Cougar ends up on Stanley... then Stanley takes him to the cleaners and kicks 4... oh what the hell, 5. :D

Some media for the game:

Zac Dawson to finally reward Saints faith

Fremantle recruit Zac Dawson is confident he will play his best game for the St Kilda Football Club tonight.

“I am really looking forward to giving something back to the Saints fans” declared Dawson via phone before fumbling it.

“Tonight’s match will be the first time my core competencies – indecision, lack of composure in traffic and a kick that lacks any semblance of penetration – will actually be of benefit to the Saints.”

St Kilda have also aborted plans to unveil a monument recognising Ross Lyon’s contribution to the club. The monument, which was 5-years in the making and often criticised for its uninspiring, yet effective style, was due to be completed at the end of the season but was deceitfully abandoned last September.

Source Squizzy? Or is it your own work :D

Re: Round 4 vs Fremantle Discussion

I heard that the club were going to sign Lion up but there were too many defensive clauses in the contract, which just slowed down the whole process and prevented it reaching a conclusion.

Clause number 3728. In the event of a meteor strike hitting earth ( refer to clause 5726) or other relevant planets ( as defined by clause 17532 ) should such a strike......blah blah blah.....

Re: Round 4 vs Fremantle Discussion

Disappointing if true then, I really rate Wilkes but I would rather him in the forward line as opposed to the back line to be honest

Yep, if he's kicking bags in the VFL why would we play him in the back line?
We'd also be too tall down back with Wilkes, Fisher and Blake

Re: Round 4 vs Fremantle Discussion

Yep Wilkes has shown very little as a backmen. Not sure we need another backmen anyway Gilbert's been playing more of a midfield role the past few games so I would've thought a midfielder would replace him.

Re: Round 4 vs Fremantle Discussion

You still might, Goddard to play the backman, the midfield HFF to play the extra midfielder and Wilkes to play the high HFF role is viable if entirely unlikely.

Also, planning to go so assuming it's same protocol with GA memberships in L3 rows F and up? Assume it's not a sell out since it's Freo and hell, I even got into the Carlton & Essendon games last year so pfft to that. Just unsure what with their push for more reserved seats if they were majority L2 or tagged onto the L3 seats as well is all.

Re: Round 4 vs Fremantle Discussion

We'd be too tall up forward as well with Wilkes, Stanley, Roo and Kosi unless Stanley or Kosi spent extended time in the ruck.

Could be the plan. If so it will be a stroke of genius or madness depending on the outcome.

Re: Round 4 vs Fremantle Discussion

I thought Ray would have been more of a like for like replacement for Gilbert because as someone said above, I don't think we can fit Wilkes into our forward line and still be able to apply great tackling pressure at the contest. Having said that, I have faith in what Watters is doing
