Let’s look at the teams the Saints have played for Marshall. Gold Coast, Freo, Hawks and the Bombers when they were in woeful mode. Happy to tip my hat to the job he has done so far. Let’s see how he goes over the next few weeks. Time will tell I guess. Think he has done wonderfully but a lot of SuperCoach tests to come. Have I looked at him, of course I have but just worried that he is not a top 6 forward come the crunch and it will be sideways time.

How many people actually end up with all 6 of the top scoring forwards of any given year? Take a look at the top6 from last year and I can't think of anyone who had all of them.

No but our aim is to get as many as we can.

And yet he's tonned up in the last 4 matches he's played (93 in his last game in 2018 too), there's something to be said about consistency.

At worst he makes another $100k.
Prospect will avg 90 at worst

Fair enough, but besides Danger, Heeney, & Boak, none of the other FWD's have really put their hand up to guarantee that they will be top 6.
Bingo.
The other issue is that if people really dug deep and checked i reckon they'd find their fwd line is utter trash and costing them bigtime. But the options are thin.
After Rnd 1 Westhoff was a prime target. Fallen off a cliff. Devon Smith rubbish, Meningitis, Robbie Grey meh, and even POD's like Dunkley, Mclean, Mundy and Walters have done sweet FA and gone backwards with uninspiring starts.
We crave fresh blood in the fwds to fix our ills NOW. Marshall might be a reach but at least he's putting his hand up. Even Danger is now shitting the bed.

Diamond Jack Billings is the diamond in the rough. Playing great footy.

Agreed, can't afford to look a gift horse in the mouth, especially one with a SC friendly role and good JS.

I had Billings last year and he burnt the shit out of me. But so far he's impressed me a lot. I checked his height and he's 1.85....I thought he was tiny which is why he's a squib. But he took a couple of courageous marks on the wknd....What is this dark magic??
To celebrate the return of GoT...

How many players get 4 tons in a row and end up being busts?

Lloyd in 2017. Darling last year. McLean last year (had 5 in a row).

I'm thinking maybe Setterfield to Bolton. Bolton scored a handy 75, gives me 50k in the bank. I don't like Setterfield anyway and won't regret getting rid of him even if he comes straight back in the side.

Thoughts?

shhh, Bolton was going to be my little secret :(

But most of the players we think are going to be top6 after 4 rounds aren't going to end up top6. The only one guaranteed that privilege is Danger pending injury. After 4 rounds last year did you honestly expect Hawkins & Westhoff to end up as the #1 & #2 averaging forwards? Hawkins 2018 first 4 games for instance were 57, 70, 105, 57. Then even after a bunch of huge scores mid season most people didn't jump on him until SC finals time. Westhoff was a mid 80's player who ended up breaking out at 32 years old. Not everything has to make sense all of the time. It' ok to run with a gut feel every now and then.

Injury, Injury, Role change.

All 3 of them were flying in the 1st half of their respective seasons, hardly spuds If you got the big scores and then sideways them at the right time.

Surely those 3 are the exception?

Instructions unclear, have traded in Tom Lynch. 🤞

I do run with a gut feel regularly in SC and it has served me well. Just something about Marshall spelling danger.

So with everyone convincing me on Marshall. Is Moore to Marshall going to end up sideways or an upgrade?
Upgrade

If prospect plays #1 ruck alone all year he is a keeper unlike Keira

Not going down the Bolton path.

He burnt me last time.

Plus his JS is very shaky.

He burnt me last time too but was willing to give him a second chance if started doing something this year.
